The Extreme Hot Weather Protocol is a major reminder for you and your pets to play it safe!

❌Skip the routine midday walks, car rides with pit stops, and playtime outdoors
✅Aim for indoors with frozen treats, plenty of water, and enrichment play!

Switching during this heat wave may save you an emergency visit. Keep it cool ❄️🐾

Hazy, hot and humid today! The state's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol goes into effect this morning as feels-like temperatures are expected to top 100 degrees. How long will the heat last? Tune in to Good Morning Connecticut for your full forecast.

Summer fun can be pretty frightening for our pets. 🙀

Fireworks, storms, cookouts, bonfires, and heat waves can all create stress and safety risks. We're here to help you prepare your pets for dealing with anxiety, beating the heat, safety outdoors, and up-to-date microchips for those startled escape artists.

Plan with us today so you and your pet can have a safer, calmer summer. 😎🐾

As temperatures rise and we move closer to summer, the season for heat stroke approaches. Knowing the signs and temperatures to look out for can mean the difference between a daily walk and an emergency situation.

We urge you to check the pavement before walks, keep exercise short and early, and always provide access to cool, shaded spaces with water.

If your pet shows signs of heat stress—panting, disorientation, vomiting, or collapse—move them to a cool area, apply lukewarm water, and call us immediately. Be safe out there this summer! ☀️🐾

Over 1,000 pets go missing every hour in the U.S. If it ever happens to yours, a microchip can be the difference between “missing” and “home.”

Ask our team about microchipping. It’s a simple, quick procedure and provides lifelong identification, and shelters/vets can scan it to contact you.

Coming in for an exam? Ask us to check your pet’s microchip status and your contact info — even pets that are chipped often have outdated phone numbers, so be sure yours is up to date.

Ticks don’t just hang out in the woods but also hitchhike into backyards, neighborhood walks, parks, and even inside on people and other pets. The best protection combines preventatives with quick checks.

Quick Tick Check for Pets (around 30 seconds):
• Around the collar & under the chin
• Behind ears
• Armpits & belly/groin area
• Between toes
• Base of tail

If you find a tick, remove it immediately, and keep an eye on the bite site. Not sure what preventatives are right for your pet? We can help you choose an option that fits your pet’s lifestyle. Give us a call and we'd be happy to help!
