Today I had the pleasure of giving this pup her very first groom. She did great considering her being an older puppy. She is an adorable "Shorkie" ( Shih-tzu/ yorkie). I can't wait to see how her coat turns out as it grows out long and luxurious.

Good morning pet parents time for a education lesson!

The topic: double coated breeds.

I will NOT shave down a double coated breed unless medically necessary in my shop.

Your double coated dog uses that double coat to regulate their body temp. No matter where your from or where the dog is from. No matter how hot it is outside or cold it is outside that double coat is designed to help them regulate their body temp. If you have them shaved down they can't do that and you could cause your dog to over heat or worse. Yes its damages the coat also but to me thats the least of the worries of the damage you would be causing. If you dont believe me DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. You can ask Google, Ai, chat ABC (whatever), ask any search engine. You will find the same answer across the board. I invite you to by a book about double coated dogs it will tell you the same. This isn't new information I learned this 16 years ago in grooming school. Its been taught for years. Its up to the groomer if they want to be ethical or make a buck.

Country Paws Grooming will not shave down a double coated dog unless medically necessary.

Do your research on the breed you have or are getting so that you know you can provide the proper care for that dog for 15 plus years.
Be responsible.

Attn Clients!!!! Im sharing this again. Please plan your route to me accordingly. Being a one on one groomer who is booked out means most days im booked back to back. If you can not make it here in a reasonable time frame for your appointment it will need to be rescheduled. Again if you come through the light at Chancy road and Morris Brodge rd normally IT IS CLOSED FOR A WHILE. Check GPS before heading my way to make sure you will makenit on time. Thank you
