HRK would like to wish a Happy Retirement to our very own
FC Docheno's Winning Colours.

Lukas came to us at 8 weeks old from breeder Chad Beard and she's been a joy ever since. She is arguably the sweetest dog we've ever had walk through this kennel.

We sold her to long time client Grady Peacock, with the agreement that she returned to me when the time came. Unfortunately, Grady didn't live to see her become a National Open Finalist in 2024.

Lukas has arthritis in her feet and they have been bothering her quite a bit this summer, even with treatment.

Upon her RJAM (her favorite ribbon!) at Topeka last week-end, I decided that she had done enough and deserved to rest those feet and become a full time bunny chaser, her other passion.

She is on the road to being the Mother of Champions, as her litters from Flex, Jammer and Blue all look remarkable.

(Lukas is named after celebrated thoroughbred racehorse trainer D Wayne Lukas, who passed earlier this year. His Kentucky Derby winning filly was named Winning Colors. I added the "u" as an homage to my homeland, Canada.)

I was honored to be asked to be Chief Marshal for this years National Retriever Derby Championship.

An amazing set up crew of 30 worked their butts off all week with me.

A HUGE shout out to 3 of the many unsung heroes of set-up, the developers of “The Book”.

Mike Brendan, Dr Sarah Shull and Bob West…set up would have been impossible to be as effecient as it was, without you.
