Happy Friday! Sorry for the late post; this week we don’t have a forever Friday story but it is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day today. On this day, we remember those special pets that have left us and await our reunion at the rainbow bridge. Please feel free to share here photos or stories of your own beloved pets who you miss dearly!

The pictures added here are my childhood kitties of whom I have pictures ready, but there were a few when I was very young that I will be happy to see whenever it’s my time at the rainbow bridge. Included here are Abby, Cassie & Melanie, cats that my family adopted when I was very young and had them for 14-16 years. They were very treasured members of our family and we still talk about them with love!

Awesome spotlight: Eleanor!

This wonderful young lady came in the other night to drop off donations that she had purchased from money raised at her lemonade stand! She is eight years old and so thoughtful and generous that she raised money and wanted to purchase items for our shelter cats!

A huge thank you from our shelter kitties, Eleanor!

Adoption Spotlight: Rowdy!

Rowdy is a pretty petite lady of seven years old who would like to be the one and only cat in her forever home! She lived with other cats previously but she did not get along with them, so she should be the only cat. We do not know how she would do with dogs, but she doesn’t seem to mind respectful older children.

She is very playful and would love to have a fun, active home who will keep her busy! She also needs to go home with her stuffed animal frog, which is her emotional support toy. Come down and meet pretty Rowdy and perhaps she will be your purrfect fit!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone rode out the crazy rain this weekend! This week we have a few new kitties for you, and a few have gone home. New kitties are Freya, Sable, and Fred & Barney. Dill, Thistle, Maggie, Ink, and Carl went home last week, and we don’t have anyone on deposit currently. Maybe you can change that???

Freya is a beautiful 6 year old girl who was unhappy in her home with young children, so she needs to go to a new home without young kids. We don’t know for sure how she is with other cats or dogs. Sable is an adorable kitten who would do well in a variety of homes, but like any other kitten, would do best in a home with a playful, young friend!

Fred & Barney (not pictured) are a bonded pair of young, undersocialized kitties who would do well with a cat-experienced home to help them come out of their shells and settle in nicely. They have potential to be totally normal cats with the proper patience, care, and understanding needed to socialize young scared kitties, so check in with us if this sounds like a rewarding challenge for which you’re ready!

Come down during open hours each week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4-7 and Saturdays from 10-1 to meet all our wonderful kitties waiting to find their forever homes!

Saturday Adoption Re-Spotlight: Lovely Lady Lily!

As of now, Lily is our longest stay: she has been with us since July of last year- 410 days. She came to us as an owner surrender due to allergies, but it became evident that she had some medical issues and was frankly not happy to be in the shelter. We got her some calming care probiotic for her food, and also it was determined that she was pre-diabetic. Her diabetes is easily controlled and managed with a prescription diet, and no other care is needed at this time besides regular vet visits.

We have to assume she did not feel well for a while, because since getting on the diet, she has blossomed to a friendly, loving, calm girl who enjoys sitting in your lap and being pet! We’d love to see her go to a home where she can be either the only cat or with another friendly, calm, laid back cat to share space with and get to know each other with a slow introduction. She doesn’t mind other cats and is heard talking to them in the shy room, where she is staying with other kitties who also don’t like the hustle and bustle of the main adoption room.

Come down to meet lovely Lily and perhaps she’s the match you’re looking for! We have open hours each week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4-7 and Saturdays from 10-1.

Happy Forever Friday! We wanted to share a quick update about big boy Meeko who stole the hearts of many while with us at the shelter, and found his forever home after staying with us for two months exactly. Read below for the nice message we received:

“Hi! I wanted to give you a little update since we adopted Meeko. It took us a couple weeks to settle in because he now has 4 year old sister named Coco Bean. Now they seem to get along great and hangout in their own cat trees! We absolutely love him, and he fits in perfect with our little family!”

Thank you for the cute pictures, the update, and especially for adopting this handsome guy!

Happy Monday!! This week we have two new kitties that may have been available later last week, but I was out of the loop due to being on vacation! Ralf, Jackie, Maye, Tequila, Rum, Brandy, Athena, Miso, Shelby, and Lexus all went home last week- wow! Maggie is on deposit and Clint has interest!

Carl is a handsome four year old guy who should go to a home without children and as a solo pet, as he can get food aggressive. Coconut is a beautiful young mama who is looking for her forever home. She came to us as a stray mom with four kittens, and her kittens are still in foster and are not ready to be adopted yet. We do not know for sure how she would be with children, dogs, or other cats.

As always, please visit us during open hours each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4-7 and Saturdays from 10-1! No need for an appointment, just come on down and meet all our great adoptable cats!

Happy Forever Friday! This week we have an update on a kitty that was with us for quite a while as a scared and nervous older kitten. She was feral when she came in in August, and spent a while getting used to people and human interaction, and found her forever home in May! Read below for a wonderful update on her:

“I wanted to provide y’all with an update on Bugsy. We’ve had Bugsy for 2.5 months now and we’re happy to report she is a huge goofball. She spent her first couple weeks observing from afar and bolting out of sight the second anything moved. As she’s slowly gotten acquainted with her new home, she’s made daily measurable progress getting comfortable and shown us more and more of her odd little overstimulated self. She blinks a lot. She’s twitchy. Her hiss is very weak, we didn’t realize the first couple times she hissed at us (getting stronger now). She used to regularly give herself the hiccups. She is very curious, and also has a very healthy “nope” reflex. It doesn’t quite read as fear anymore, just a very firm self-preservation boundary with which she is always at odds. When she catches our other cat sniffing her, she hisses and skedaddles, then 10 seconds later is herself trying to sniff our other cat. She bops her head back and forth and up and down, curiosity fighting the nerves. She is rather long, and when she creeps she has the proportions of a dachshund. She is not very graceful, often thwacking and skidding into things. Bugsy is very playful, though it took about a month to teach/coax her to play and she still sometimes catches herself having a little too much fun and reels herself back in. She makes weird little underwater alien noises without opening her mouth. She has started to trill at us regularly during and after play, and she really leaps for the toy now. As her walls have come down her little quirks have started to mellow, though it doesn’t seem they’ll ever fully disappear (we hope). She spies on us and sometimes comes pretty close to observe, but she’s much more comfortable with our other cat than with humans. She’ll step on my leg with her front paws if I coax her up with a Churu. I pet her during Churu time every few weeks to test the waters, she tolerates it but certainly doesn’t enjoy it yet.

We’ve kept her name- our older black cat’s nickname is Bug, a big part of why we went to meet Bugsy in the first place, and who are we to question the ways of the CDS (Cat Distribution System). Plus… it’s apt. We call her Little Bug, Goob/Gooby (as in Goober), and Spook/Spooky. We’re very proud of how much she’s opened up and how she pushes herself every day. It’s been such a joy pulling her out of her shell and we’re very grateful she’s letting us get to know her :)

Thank you all for our little weirdo!”

Thank YOU for adopting her, and for the beautifully written update!
