Today, my former student Haven stopped by to catch up and work a few dogs with me. It didn’t take long to see that his training foundation is still rock solid. He didn’t miss a beat—the skills came flooding right back, and I was incredibly proud.

His first dog of the afternoon was LOU, a Labrador puppy from Austin, Texas. Keep in mind, this is ONLY Day #4 of training for this exceptional young dog.

The fact that Lou confidently worked with someone he had never met before and responded off-leash without hesitation speaks volumes about the power of engagement and making training fun for the dog.

Haven worked positional training with Lou on the boards, hand luring exercises, and then transitioned to the Treat & Train. Lou stepped up to every challenge and exceeded my expectations.

By the end of this short session, Lou was completely gassed—exactly what I wanted. Mental work is hard work, and this little guy gave us everything he had.

Haven was absolutely floored by this little puppy. I can’t wait to see where Lou is in another three weeks. The future is bright for this little dog!

⚽️ It’s FIFA World Cup time tonight!

🇦🇷 Argentina takes on Algeria, and while the crowd goes wild, MOOSE does what champions do… he takes a solid PLACE and relaxes through all the soccer madness. 🐾😎

I swear I caught him watching Messi highlights earlier—you could almost hear him cheering him on! 🐐⚽️

Day #2 of Treat & Train.

Lou the Labrador puppy is already getting it! Straight to the Cato Board, swings into heel, sits, and locks eyes on me for his reward.

Focus earns the prize. Lou nailed it again today.

MARV the Goldendoodle was on a mission today! 🐾

After a great training session, he took on the obstacle course like a pro—climbing and conquering every challenge before cashing in on a well-earned reward! 🍖🏆

Safe to say MARV understood the assignment. 😎

Way to go, buddy! 👏🐶

THIA the Cane Corso remains completely calm less than 25 yards from a deer at the feeder. She held her sit perfectly as the deer suddenly bolted—and she never even blinked an eye.

Wow… just WOW! 🤯

That level of focus, composure, and obedience is something special. Nicely done, beautiful girl. 🖤🐾

MOOSE the JRT is absolutely shredding the obstacle course! 🔥🐾

Those 4 tiny legs are moving so fast they might start a brush fire! 😂

He lives for his “O” Course time, and honestly, he’s making it look way too easy. Jumps and climbs—this kid has skills and he’s not afraid to show them off!

Somebody get this speed demon a sponsorship deal… or at least a pit crew. 🚀🐶

Using tools the right way sharpens skills and builds rock-solid habits.

Tonight, I’m working with LOU, a young Labrador Retriever from Austin, Texas, using the Treat & Train for his dinner.

The entire lesson is simple:
➡️ Come to the Cato Board.
➡️ Sit next to me.
➡️ Wait patiently.
➡️ Earn food.

The catch? I can’t say a single word.

No commands. No corrections. No coaching.

Lou has to solve the puzzle on his own through classical and operant conditioning. When the dog discovers the answer himself, the lesson sticks.

Smart kid. He figured it out fast.

And as an added bonus, watch closely for my cat-like reflexes as I save the Treat & Train from certain destruction. You may need to slow the video down—I move pretty fast….I’m just a blur on camera. 😎

LOU the Labrador Puppy is crushing it! 🔥

Day #3 on the floor with me, and this little man is already showing everyone how it’s done.

Smart, focused, and eager to learn.

The future is looking bright for this pup!

Nicely done, Lou! 👊🐾

🚨 NEW STUDENT ALERT! 🚨
Please help me welcome BIRDIE 🐾, a beautiful Doberman Pinscher puppy from Dublin, Texas, to the West Texas Dog Trainer Off-Leash Obedience Program!

Birdie is a fantastic example of the Doberman breed—beautiful, smart, athletic, and always ready for action. She has a wonderful disposition and a great willingness to learn.

Now, according to Birdie, her families rules at home are more like “friendly suggestions.” 😆
A few items currently on her to-do list and of importance are:🐾 Coming when called🐾 Keeping all four paws on the ground🐾 Walking politely on leash🐾 Waiting at doorways instead of launching through them🐾 Containing her excitement when the world becomes just too exciting
The good news?

Birdie learns incredibly fast. Her biggest challenge isn’t understanding what I’m teaching—it’s deciding that paying attention to me is more important than everything else happening around her!

This is why I’ll be focusing heavily on engagement, focus, and foundational obedience. Once Birdie learns that listening is just as fun as exploring, she’s going to be an absolute rock star.

Her family can’t wait to take her everywhere and show off their beautiful girl. My job is to make sure she becomes the kind of dog everyone admires—not just because she’s gorgeous, but because she’s well-mannered too.

Stay tuned as Birdie trades a little puppy chaos for a lot of obedience! 🐕💪

🐾 Welcome RYE from Fort Worth, Texas, to the West Texas Dog Trainer Off-Leash Training Program! 🐾. Rye is letting me know what she thinks of my program!!!!

Rye is a young German Shepherd with a sweet personality and tons of potential. Right now, she’s carrying a lot of nervous energy and struggles with confidence around new environments, new experiences, and other dogs.

My mission is simple: build confidence, create calm, and teach her that the world isn’t such a scary place. Through structured training i will help Rye become the confident, stable companion she’s meant to be.
This one will take some work—but I already see a great dog in there.

Let’s get to work, Rye! 💪🐕🔥
