🚨 LONGEST RESIDENT ALERT: JUNE NEEDS YOU 🚨
Meet June—our sweet, overlooked, incredibly deserving girl who has spent way too much time waiting for a home. 💔
Here’s the hard truth:
🔹 She’s a senior (about 9 years old).
🔹 She’s a pit mix (which, unfairly, makes adoptions harder).
🔹 She’s a black pit mix (one of the most overlooked dogs in shelters).
June has EVERYTHING working against her, but if only people saw what we see—she’s absolutely incredible.
🐾 House-trained? Yep, one of the cleanest dogs at the shelter.
🐾 Athletic? SO much! Don’t let her age fool you—this girl loves to run, play, and explore.
🐾 Adventure-ready? 100%. She’s AMAZING with her harness and lives for her walks.
🐾 The happiest dog? Despite everything, yes. She lights up when she gets outside time with staff, plays in the yard, or gets her treats.
But here’s the heartbreaking part—June thinks the shelter is her home. 😞 She’s been here so long that she doesn’t even know what she’s missing out on. She doesn’t know what it’s like to have a couch to nap on, a family to love her unconditionally, or a warm bed that’s truly hers. She was dumped and forgotten, and we refuse to let her story end here.
She deserves more than a kennel. More than shelter life. More than being overlooked again and again.

Tinga has been waiting way too long, and we can’t understand why. We thought she’d be adopted in a heartbeat, but here she is, still waiting… still watching as others leave while she stays behind. 💔
She’s young, fun, and bursting with personality! Tinga is one of those dogs that makes you smile just by being around her. She’s full of life, energy, and so much love to give. 🐾💖

Meet Layla – 16 Years Young and Full of Sass! 🧡
You read that right — Layla is 16 years old, but don’t let the number fool you! This adorable Pomeranian mix is full of life. She loves to run, play, and shamelessly beg for treats like a puppy. You’d never guess she’s a senior!

Layla came to us after her owner was arrested. She had spent her whole life with them, and we had hoped for a reunion. Unfortunately, that’s no longer possible, and now Layla needs a new forever home to live out her golden years in comfort and love.

She’s spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and ready to go! Layla is spunky, silly, and will absolutely make you laugh — she’s got a huge personality in a tiny body.

Please help us find Layla the home she deserves. Don’t underestimate the power of a share — it could be the one that gets this sweet senior out of the shelter and into someone’s arms.

Meet Alani – A Sweet Soul Searching for a Second Chance

Alani’s world turned upside down when her beloved owner sadly passed away. At just around 2 years old, Alani has already experienced deep loss, and it shows in her eyes—she's grieving, she's confused, but above all, she's resilient.

Despite the heartache and sudden change, from the very first day she arrived at the shelter, Alani showed us nothing but love. Even in her sadness, she greeted staff with gentle kisses and rolled over for belly rubs. This girl is a true testament to the power of love and loyalty.

Alani craves human affection. She lights up around people and is happiest when she’s close to someone—whether it's cuddling, getting pets, or just quietly sitting by your side. She's sweet, gentle, and full of heart. What she needs now is someone to show her that love isn't lost—it's waiting for her in a new forever home.

💔 Meet Daisy Rae 💔
Daisy Rae came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed—but her story doesn't end there. A tip from someone familiar with her past revealed that her previous family had been looking to rehome her. Not long after, Daisy Rae was “found” in a random location not far from them—a known dumping spot where another dog had previously been abandoned. While that heartbreaking information has been reported, we’re focused on what matters most now: giving Daisy Rae the loving, committed forever home she truly deserves.
Daisy Rae is a typical husky—full of energy, fun, and personality. She’ll benefit from basic training and an adopter who understands her breed’s needs. But what’s even more urgent is how deeply she’s struggling in the shelter environment. Though she’s only been with us a short time, Daisy Rae is clearly overwhelmed. She’s stressed and heartbroken.
She craves human connection. She’s social, friendly, and you can tell she’s used to being around people. She doesn't belong here. None of them do—but Daisy Rae is taking the transition especially hard.
This sweet girl has already been failed once. She deserves better. She deserves safety, consistency, and a family that will see her as family—not as something disposable.

Just look at that smile! This is what love, resilience, and a second chance looks like. 💖

Here at The Wayne Animal Shelter, we love our rescue dogs with all our hearts—and we’ll never stop advocating for the BEST breed there is: rescues! These amazing pups may have had rough starts, but their capacity for love, joy, and loyalty is unmatched.

Today, we celebrate every rescue dog and the incredible families who opened their hearts and homes to give them the life they deserve. 🏡💕

🚨 This WILL break your heart. Please don’t scroll past Rex.
He was beaten.
Kicked.
Abused in ways that should never happen to any living creature.
We’ve seen the videos—and it stays with you. It makes you sick. It makes you angry.
But the part that hurts the most?
Rex has been sweet since the very beginning.
He didn’t arrive growling. He didn’t shut down.
He wagged his tail.
He leaned in for pets.
He looked up at us with big, hopeful eyes—still believing someone would be kind.
That’s what breaks you.
That even after everything… Rex never stopped being good.
He came to us with awful stomach issues. He was anxious and uncomfortable—but still sweet. Still affectionate.
And now, after finally figuring out what works for his body and his belly… Rex is ready for adoption!
He is a total mush. A love sponge. A sweet soul who wants nothing more than to curl up next to someone and be told he’s safe now. That no one will ever hurt him again.
Rex needs:
🖤 A home where he is the ONLY pet
🖤 An adult-only household or one with older teens
🖤 An adopter 100% committed to his special diet
🖤 A patient person who can continue to help him with his training—Rex can sometimes get overstimulated, and he needs someone who understands how to guide him gently through those moments

Rex has survived the darkest parts of this world. But somehow, his heart is still full of light.

Do you have any XL or XXL dog costumes, clothes, PJs, or accessories you’re not using? Our shelter has some amazing long-term residents—all 50+ lbs of love—and we’ve got BIG plans to help them shine! ✨

Mama Soup came to us with her babies, but all her little ones have found their forever homes a while ago, and now it’s her turn! Having spent much of her life outside, Mama Soup was understandably scared when she first arrived at the shelter. But with patience and understanding, she’s slowly blossomed into the sweet, spunky cat she is today.

She absolutely loves head scratches and will often boop you for pets. In the past, she was a bit sassy, and if you went too fast, she might swat (though never using her claws!). Now, Mama Soup is much more relaxed and has become a favorite of many of the shelter staff. She’s still a little shy at times but is incredibly sweet once she’s comfortable with you.

Mama Soup needs a patient adopter who will take their time getting to know her and allow her to adjust at her own pace. If you’re looking for a fun, independent cat with a big personality, Mama Soup might just be the one for you!
