Blue's story is one that breaks our hearts.

At 7 years old, Blue was surrendered to the shelter because his family said they were moving. The family he had known since he was just a puppy. The people he trusted his entire life.

But what hurts even more is that they took their other dog with them and left Blue behind.

They didn't even bring him here themselves. A family member dropped him off because they were "working." There was no goodbye. No final hug. No favorite toy. No bag of food. No treats. Nothing familiar to help him through the most confusing and heartbreaking day of his life.

Nothing.

After seven years of loyalty, Blue was left to walk into a shelter without a single comfort from the home he thought would be his forever.

People can be incredibly cruel.

But somehow, Blue refuses to let that define him.

Despite everything, he greets each day with a wagging tail and a happy smile. He loves everyone he meets and has never met a stranger. His gentle nature, sweet personality, and endless capacity for love shine through every single day.

Blue is a BIG boy, but his heart is even bigger.

He doesn't carry anger. He doesn't hold grudges. He simply keeps loving, trusting, and hoping that somewhere out there is a family who will love him the way he deserves.

This wonderful boy has already proven what unconditional love looks like. Now he's just waiting for someone to show him the same.

Blue gave his whole heart once before. We think it's time someone gave theirs to him.

Meet Mimi ā¤ļø

Some dogs come into the shelter scared. Some come in confused. Mimi came in with a broken heart.

This sweet young mixed-breed girl was abandoned by the very people she loved. The family who was supposed to protect her instead left her behind, claiming she was a stray. When Animal Control arrived, Mimi didn't run away from the house—she ran back to it. Back to the people she trusted. Back to the place she thought was home.

She had no idea that her family had already decided they didn't want her anymore.

It's impossible not to feel for Mimi. You can see the uncertainty in her eyes as she tries to make sense of everything that's happened. Yet even after being let down by people, she still greets us with kindness. She still leans in for affection. She still believes that people can be good.

Mimi is gentle, sweet, and incredibly loving. She's not demanding or over-the-top—she's simply happy to be near you. Every day she shows us just how resilient dogs can be. Despite the betrayal she experienced, she continues to open her heart.

What Mimi needs now is simple: a family that means it when they say "forever."

A family that will give her the stability she's been missing. A family that will help her rebuild her confidence. A family that will never make her wonder where she belongs.

Mimi has already loved the wrong people with her whole heart.

Meet Nala šŸ’™

Nala is a young husky mix with stunning blue eyes and the sweetest, gentlest demeanor. Her story is honestly unbelievable. Nala was found as a stray here in New Jersey and, like so many huskies, was sadly never reclaimed. But what shocked us was her microchip information — all we could trace was that the chip had originally come from a shelter in Los Angeles. Somehow, in a very short amount of time, this young dog ended up all the way across the country.

We can’t even begin to imagine what she’s been through, but it’s clearly taken a toll on her.

Nala is really struggling in the shelter environment. She appears to have some hearing loss, which we think makes everything even more confusing and stressful for her. Inside the shelter she is nervous, timid, and overwhelmed. But the second she steps outside into our play yard, you can literally watch the stress melt away. That’s when the real Nala shines through — a kind, gentle, sweet dog who just wants peace, patience, and love.

This girl deserves so much more than a kennel.

We are urgently looking for an experienced adopter and/or rescue to help Nala finally get the life she deserves. She needs a calm environment, understanding people, and a chance to decompress after everything she’s endured.

She’s been through too much already. Let’s get Nala out of the shelter and into a home where she can finally safe again. 🐾

MEET LEGEND
Legend was just one of the many dogs pulled from a severe hoarding and backyard breeding situation, where life meant filth and neglect. These dogs weren’t given comfort or care. They came in covered in urine and f***s, their coats so matted it must have caused constant discomfort. No grooming. No medical care. No comfort. No kindness. Only exploitation.
Used over and over again for breeding, their little bodies exhausted, their babies taken from them again and again to be sold for profit. This is the reality behind so many ā€œpurebredā€ puppies. The mothers and fathers are hidden away, suffering in silence, while the cycle continues… all driven by greed.
Many of these dogs didn’t even know how to walk on a leash… some barely knew how to exist outside of confinement. And yet, despite everything they’ve been through, they still seek out human touch. They still want love. That’s what makes this even more heartbreaking.
No animal deserves this. No life should look like this.
But their story doesn’t end there.
Today, they are safe. They are clean. They are finally receiving the medical care they were denied for so long. They are learning what it means to be cared for… what it feels like to be loved.
And now, they’re ready for a future they’ve never had the chance to know.
They are ready for homes that will never let them feel that kind of pain again.
Please adopt. Please speak up. Please don’t support the cycle that caused this.
Even if you can’t adopt, please take a moment to listen to their stories and share them—because the truth is, even breeders who seem ā€œlegitā€ are often part of the same cruel cycle of neglect and exploitation. 🐾

šŸ’” Transformation Thursday: Meet Mufasa šŸ’”

Look at Mufasa now… it doesn’t even look like the same dog.

It is heartbreaking to think about how he was kept before coming to us—used for money and nothing else. Mufasa is one of the Yorkies rescued from a severe breeder hoarding and abuse situation, where these dogs were treated as nothing more than breeding machines. No comfort. No proper care. Just repeated breeding and neglect.

Mufasa is about 8 years old. Despite everything he’s endured, he is now fully vetted, neutered, and up to date on all his vaccines. He is safe, clean, and finally getting the care he should have had all along.

And now… he’s ready for something better. 🐾

If you’re interested in Mufasa or any of the other Yorkies available, please stop by during adoption hours:
Tuesday & Thursday: 5:30–8:00 PM
Saturday: 11:30 AM–4:00 PM

šŸ“ We are located at:
201 Pompton Plains Crossroads
Wayne, NJ 07470

šŸ“§ Questions? Email us at: [email protected]

Please be patient with us—we are experiencing an overwhelming amount of interest in the Yorkie mixes and will get back to everyone as soon as possible. In the meantime, feel free to stop by the shelter to meet them and see all of our wonderful adoptable pets who are waiting for loving homes.

šŸ’” Please adopt. Please speak up. Please don’t support the cycle that caused this.
Even if you can’t adopt, please take a moment to listen to their stories and share them—because the truth is, even breeders who seem ā€œlegitā€ are often part of the same cruel cycle of neglect and exploitation. 🐾

🐾 Animal Control Appreciation Week 🐾

This week, we want to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to our Animal Control Officers for all of their hard work, dedication, and compassion.

This is not an easy job, day in and day out, they respond to tough situations, help animals in need, protect the community, and make sure every animal gets a chance at safety and care. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a real difference in the lives of so many.

We are incredibly grateful for everything they do. Thank you for your commitment, your patience, and your heart for animals and the community you serve. We also love working together with you to save even more animals and give them the second chances they deserve. Partnerships like this make all the difference. šŸ’™šŸ¶šŸ±

Charlie Brown is the kind of dog who lives for human connection. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, he’s your guy—he just wants to be by your side all the time. Whether you’re relaxing at home or out and about, Charlie is happiest when he’s with his people.
This sweet boy truly shines during his training sessions. He absolutely loves showing off his tricks, and his confidence soars when he’s running through his agility routine and doing his tricks. Charlie is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and always ready to please—making him a joy to work with and an amazing companion in the making.
At just about 2½ years old, Charlie has already been through more than he ever should have. He was heartbreakingly dumped from a car, but in a moment that shows his trusting and loving nature, he ran straight up to a kind stranger and jumped into her car for safety. Thanks to that Good Samaritan, Charlie is now safe with us, and we’ve had the privilege of getting to know just how special he truly is.
Charlie Brown is neutered, up to date on all his vaccines, and ready for his next chapter. All he’s missing now is a family to call his own—a family who will give him the love and stability he’s always deserved.
If you’re ready for a devoted, affectionate, and fun-loving best friend, Charlie Brown is waiting for you. 🐾
