Things I don’t mind as your dog groomer

1. Eye bo**er and poopy butts
It’s all part of the job. Please don’t feel embarrassed or try to clean them up right before your dog’s appointment. We see it all the time, and honestly, it’s exactly what we’re here for. We’ll take care of the messy stuff so you don’t have to stress about it.

2.Wanting to go shorter
Life is expensive, and I completely understand if you need to go a bit shorter to make the groom last an extra few weeks

3. Toilet accidents
Please don’t worry if your pup has an accident during their appointment. We do take them out for regular potty breaks throughout grooming, so it’s pretty rare but it can still happen, especially with nerves or excitement. Either way, it’s never a problem. We’re fully prepared and clean it up right away without any stress.

4. Asking alot of questions
We actually love this. Ask anything — about grooming tools, coat maintenance, what we’re doing and why, or how to keep your dog looking and feeling their best at home. There are no silly questions here, and we’re always happy to share what we know.

5. Multi dog appointments
If bringing all your dogs together makes life easier, or they’re more comfortable arriving as a group, we’re more than happy to accommodate that.

6. Quirks and biters
Honesty is the best policy. Every dog has their own personality, quirks, and triggers. The more honest you are with us, the better we can adjust handling, pacing, and approach to keep them safe, calm, and comfortable throughout their groom.

At Velvet Paux, eye discharge and tear staining is handled as part of routine grooming care and comfort maintenance
“Eye bo**ers” are simply a buildup of natural tear residue made up of tears, oils, dust, and tiny particles the eye is constantly flushing out. All dogs have them, but some breeds and individuals show more due to facial structure, hair length, allergies, or tear drainage patterns.

Our role in grooming is to keep that area clean, comfortable, and free from buildup.

Velvet Paux Eye Care Routine:

We gently manage tear buildup through:

* Soft, damp wipe down of the inner eye corners
* Careful removal of crust or residue without pulling on hair or skin
* Light facial grooming around the eyes to prevent irritation from overgrowth
* What we refer to as a tear line clean up / eye comfort massage, which helps soften and lift buildup
* Ongoing monitoring for excessive staining, redness, or discomfort

This is done as part of a calm, low stress handling routine during grooming or care visits.

If we ever see signs that go beyond normal buildup such as thick discharge, strong odor, swelling, or persistent irritation,we note it and recommend veterinary evaluation to the owner.

Our focus is simple: clean eyes, comfortable dogs, and early awareness when something doesn’t look right.
