Asked Boone what he wanted for his birthday. He ran through the underground fence with his shock collar still on. Took that to mean he wanted to go for a walk. For you Boonster Boy Mama can make that happen. He and Bailey have both officially reached Senior status now. Makes me a little sad but they’re both still hanging in there.

Pupdate: Freya (Zulu, Bella and Boone, February 2026) had her first Alaskan weekend adventure!

“She loved it and did so so good. I even threw a tennis ball in the brush with scent on it and she flew straight in and tracked it pretty dang good with her nose and found it and we haven’t worked scent tracking at all yet. She’s got some good genes!”

Love that she is doing so well and that I get to experience Alaska through her adventures!

Freya is being trained by Tyler Keith and will be part of J.A. Julie Steele’s breeding program at Steele’s Lone Oak Labradors in Alaska.

Weekends are made for water. Pretty sure that’s a direct quote from labs everywhere. Brea (Bear and Bella, Dec 2024) was a rookie that took to river life like an old pro. Her “sister” had a litter of 14 puppies last summer so not much time for river cruisin’. Sounds like she tried to make up for an entire summer in one day!!
