Meet our trainers: Jessica Xenakis with her dogs! [Mackinaw (brindle boxer/lab on left) and Goose (liver/white field english springer on right)]

Hi all, I'm Jessica! My passion for dog training all began in 2019 shortly after getting my family dog. I threw myself into the craft and learned how to use a variety of training equipment and techniques. Not only were we training the "basics", like "Sit -Stay -Heel - Here", but we also graduated towards off leash training as well as e-collar training. It wasn't until two family hunting dogs later where I realized I wanted to take my dog training knowledge to the next level. We began incorporating weekly trips to different pet-friendly locations to practice calmness/neutrality, started touching on scent training/nose work with our bird hunting dogs, and took a deeper look into deciphering dog body language and its importance. As a huge dog lover and dog owner most of my life, there is nothing more important than having a strong and positive relationship with your dog built on trust and mutual respect. This all starts with the basic foundations of dog training. I am a firm believer that no dog is "untrainable" or "bad", the keys to success are consistency and patience.
Happy training and I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends here at Oakview!

Meet our trainers: Jessica Inman is our head trainer at Oakview! Jessica is a 3rd generation dog trainer. She specializes in both competition and pet training. She began training at four years old with her very first dog, Fallon the Papillon. Jessica currently has three dogs of her own that she trains for competition obedience, rally, nosework, & agility. She has continued to educate herself under some of the top trainers in the United States. She is a certified CGC, CGCU, CGCA, STAR, & Trick Dog evaluator and instructor. Jessica believes that dog training can be complex and may seem tedious, but her goal as your instructor is to make dog training simple and fun. She will cater to you and your dogs lifestyle to ensure that you progress through her program with the most success. In her free time Jessica enjoys running, walking, and hiking across the country with her pups. She is active and energetic which reflects in her training! She is eager to meet you all and ready to get to work! Contact her at our email [email protected] to set up your first lesson or class with your pup!

Our Story

Oakview Pet Resort is a family owned and operated establishment located in the North West suburbs of Chicago. In 1991 with little more than a dream and a long history of dog handling we opened the doors to our Wauconda facility just out the backdoor of Oakview Farm (est. 1982).This came to be the ideal, “Country home away from home” situated on a quiet 12 acres tucked away just off Route 12 and Case Road.

We went on to expand the Wauconda facility; adding on a large training building, specialized cottages and suites, and a new grooming area. As a full service Pet Resort we offered boarding grooming as well as playtimes, nature walks, and treats for our guests! The one thing that we were missing was a social play group where dogs could enjoy being DOGS! In 2010 Oakview expanded yet again to include a two area Doggy Daycare complete with anti-fatigue mats and large indoor/outdoor enclosures.

In 2012 we realized that in order to better cater to the needs of our communities we were in need of a second, more specialized location. We opened our Lake Zurich facility that year, an all inclusive Pet Resort offering grooming, daily daycare, and the stay and play concept - every guest is actively engaging in doggy daycare while boarding here. We are now proud to offer in house Veterinary services at both as well!

It has been a remarkable 27 years as Oakview has changed and grown. But our goal remains constant - providing quality comfort and care to our guests while their owners are away.
