Happy Halloween! 🎃🦙

While we missed the last few days of , we still wanted to celebrate the last day since the month is officially winding down.

The last day of Alpactober asked the question: Why alpacas?
My response: Why NOT alpacas?

They are incredible, curious animals that spread calm and joy wherever they go. And those faces are simply irresistible! We hope everyone has enjoyed their Halloween weekend, and .

We have enjoyed sharing our side of the farm with you!

A little late on Day 8 👻🦙❤️
What the ribbons don’t show.

Here’s just a few behind the scenes photos taken over the last few months. From whole family efforts to get prepped for shows, having newborn crias, late nights in the barn, and even a few escapees in the yard (see picture 4), alpacas have been an adventure we’ve always loved.

Beyond the ribbons, pedigrees, and hard decisions, we would choose these magnificent animals again and again. We are so proud of where are program is today!

Given our recent additions and limited space, we have two young females for sale that would make great starter animals, youth projects, or fiber girls. We would make a package deal to have them go together to the right fit and home. Feel free to check out our two young boys, Poseidon and Sunny, as well. They will be weaned prior to the spring 2027 shows and will be for sale then. We think they'd go great as a pair together somewhere!

Please check them out on our Openherd profile:

Lady Z is a long-stapled, full coverage 2 year old bay black female. She has very nice confirmation, with a straight back and legs.

Celestia's Aura has a great size and frame, along with a curious personality. She is a yearling that can be showed at the Railsplitter in Springfield, IL in March 2027 if someone would want to work with her!

Day 7 of 👻💀🍂
Let's Talk Alpaca P**p.

For today's post, we're celebrating one of the herd’s most underrated by-products: “alpaca beans!” The first picture shows approximately how much our 11 alpacas produce on a daily basis.

Alpaca manure has great qualities as a natural fertilizer:
- Contains nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium that support plant growth
- Not required to compost - we spread ours directly into our vegetable garden, and it doesn't burn our plants!
- Improves soil structure, and is weeds-and-seeds-free!

Currently, we spread ours into our surrounding farmland, creating added natural fertilizer to our crops. If you would be interested in trying some for your plants, message us! We'd be happy to save some for you.

Then vs. Now

Below are a handful of pictures of our alpacas as crias (babies) and what they look like today. It is such a blessing to have raised some of our own moms from birth! ❤️

Share Advice

Some other farms have shared great advice, so we’ll give a simple one that has benefitted our program as we’ve gained more experience over the years:

Spend time with and handle your animals!

As a small breeding farm, we aim for well-mannered, healthy and balanced animals. Calm handling helps lower stress during herd management, and has allowed us to show the wonderful side of alpacas with others ❤️

Day One of the Alpaca Owners Association Media Takeover! 👻🍁

“How did alpacas enter your life?”

As I joined FFA in high school, I began looking for an SAE project and along the search my family and I found alpacas. I did a little research, and a few weeks later my dad and I took a one hour drive to Keva Ranch, who at the time had around 30 alpacas. Many of the animals there were based in Magical Farms genetics, including herdsires MFI Peruvian Candyman and LMFI Peruvian Black Midnight.

I’m sure other alpaca breeders would agree that they steal your heart immediately. After some family discussion we put up a fence and barn. In the fall of 2015, we welcomed 8 dams and crias to the farm. We haven’t looked back since! 🦙❤️

Enjoy some pictures below of the early years with some of our dams as crias 😊
