"Howl-A-Lujah" Dog Grooming

For anyone still visiting my page, it will remain up for as long as i'm still grooming. As many of you know, I am now 'semi-retired', and no longer accepting new clients. Still working, 2-3 days a week for about 40 clients and their pets. I have no plans to fully retire in the near future, I've just cut back so that I can manage things as i get older, with 'grace'. LOL
I don't post here much anymore, nor do i check this page that often, so, if you need to contact me about something and you are a regular client, please message me on my personal page or call the house number. (if you're a client, friend, or family member, you have the number) If you message me here, i probably won't see it. Notifications are not reliable on this page.

One of my clients asked me if i do 'color' on dogs. Unfortunately I do not have a client base that demands such things, so no, I don't do 'color' on dogs. I used to do a little bit of that when i was grooming nearer the city, but the call for that down here doesn't make it worthwhile to stock product for it. However, they said they would color at home before grooming, and i said, that's fine. (saves me the product cost and the shop mess/time) So, today's grooms were interestingly adorable! Fendi and Loui came in for their fluff n buff's today. The results were pretty cute I'd say. The dyes are 'permanent', so aside from some color bleed in the tub, this will have to wear out with haircuts....

i've had clients' dogs that got skunked. When i didn't work at home, it was 'ok' to bring them into a groom shop i worked at even after owners had tried to bathe the odors out of the coat. But, i decline them now... it makes my WHOLE house and shop smell for days if you've 'wet' the dog before bringing them in. The only alternative i'd have is to shave the dog down and then bathe them bc any attempt to 'wash' it out at home beforehand, just seals in the odors and makes it impossible to remove. This is good advice. Dawn dish soap and baking soda is a good combo to start with. ON A DRY DOG. Work it in....no, it won't be fun for you! You might have to do it more than once. Depending on how close the dog was when sprayed and how thoroughly they were sprayed may determine the intensity of the 'shampooing' Consider your own hair and how a dry shampoo absorbs oil. The Dawn cuts the oil and the baking soda absorbs odor. You only rinse with warm water AFTER the Dawn/soda combo has been on the hair for at least half an hour.
