🎨🐾 Our shelter walls got a little brighter thanks to some talented young creators!

These beautiful pieces feature shelter pets (including some of our current adoptable animals!) along with many others. The artwork is on display and available at the shelter, and we couldn’t love it more.

You’ll find the display as you head toward the dog wing. Take a moment to stop and enjoy it while you’re here!

There are no set prices on these pieces because they’re priceless to us! Every donation helps support the animals and we hope the little artists know just how much joy their creativity has brought to the shelter, our visitors, and the pets in our care! 💛🐾

Pudge May Be 10, But Don’t Tell Him That!🐾

Pudge went on a Doggy Day Out and had the best time! He got his steps in on the Black River Trail, powered up to Thompson Park, carried his stuffy in his mouth for most of the walk and attempted to chase every squirrel that dared to sprint past him! Senior? Technically. Slowing down? Absolutely not.

Pudge has been waiting practically his entire life for a family to love him and days like this remind us just how much joy he still has in him. He’s sweet, silly and ready for someone to finally choose him!

If you want to help dogs like Pudge while enjoying some sunshine yourself, our Doggy Day Out program is the perfect way to do it. Even a couple of hours out of the shelter helps reduce stress, improve socialization, and boost adoptability. Plus, it’s a fun excuse to get outside this summer.

These are just a few of the sweet faces hanging out with us until they find a forever home!

From gentle seniors to playful adults, curious puppies and kittens and some pocket sized companions, there’s a little bit of everything right now and a whole lot of personality to go with it!

They’re all hoping for the same thing this week. A home to land in, a family to belong to and a new chapter that’s full of love! 🐶🐱🐰

We’re inviting local artists, pet focused businesses and small shops to be part of something fun on the harbor this summer.

💙 Wag-A-Thon is bringing together the dogs and families of our community for a fun, feel good day!

If you’d like to join the vendor market here are the details:

📏 12x12 booth area

It was another beautiful week of changing lives!

Thank you to everyone who adopted this week. You opened your heart to a pet in need and gave them exactly what they’ve been waiting for, a safe place to land and a family to call their own. 💛

As always, when these pets left the building new faces arrived to take their place. They bring with them new stories, new personalities and hope that their person will walk in next!🐶🐱

VELVET: HAS WAITED THE LONGEST🐾💔

Velvet has been with us since January 7th, making her our longest consecutive stay animal at the moment and the unofficial queen of the cat wing. She is 2 years old, sleek black, bright green eyed, and carries herself with the confidence of a cat who has handled the world on her own.

Velvet is loving, but she’s particular about when and with who. When she wants affection, she’s all in. When she’s done, she’ll let you know! She also plays with a little extra spice, so she’s looking for an adult home that understands boundaries and enjoys a cat with some edge.

When Velvet likes you, it feels so special! She is bold, funny, and full of personality. She has been waiting a long time for her person, and we would love to see her finally get her chance.

Velvet is available for adoption at the Main Shelter. You can meet her during our open hours or view all adoptable animals on our website at any time.

Sun’s out, tongues out! 😎
Louis, Tuti, Pudge, and Clyde spent some time soaking up sunshine, splashing in the water, and reminding us that shelter dogs know how to have a very good time.
