Just a little more!

This is the last weekend of the season for regular hours.
(on-farm market Friday, October 30th from 3-6 pm and the Cedar Falls Farmer’s Market from 8:30-noon)

Why are we STILL planting then??

We will be continuing our on-farm market into November and December on select dates: Friday November 13th and 20th from 3-6 pm.

We have some extra special treats in the ground that will be ready in time for thanksgiving ;) !!

October is coming to an end as is the growing season. We have 2 u-pick (in the field) days left, Wednesday, October 28th & Saturday, October 31st from 4-6:30 p.m. These will be the last opportunities to use your Farmers Market (WIC or Senior) vouchers for 2026 along with purple Veggie Vouchers. Do not miss your chance to use them up before they expire. We will also be open for our on Farm Market on Friday, October 30th from 3-6 p.m. or at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market Saturday, October 31st from 8:30 a.m.-noon. We hope to see you before October ends.

WOAH!!! Brussels sprouts, big lettuce (romaine too!), and a beautiful fall day; what more could we ask for? Thanks to the sub-freezing temperatures last week the brussels sprouts are sweetening up, and thanks to the sunny days the lettuce is growing beautifully; we have much to be grateful for! Visit us this week at our on-farm market today, Friday, October 23 from 3-6 pm, or Saturday, October 24th from 8:30-noon at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market. U-pick will be Saturday and Wednesday from 4-6:30 pm.

Is it genuine gold? No, it's garlic! October is hardneck garlic planting time! If you are looking for an easy crop to add to your garden next year, now is the time to plant. We will continue to have plenty of garlic available for planting and eating in the coming weeks. Visit us at our on-farm market Friday, October 16th from 3-6 pm or at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market Saturday, October 17th from 8:30-noon. A new way to pick sweet corn? Unfortunately, all the rain last night flooded the final few plantings of sweet corn and the upcoming green beans. These crops will have to be destroyed; produce inundated by floodwater is not safe to eat. Luckily, the planting of green beans for this week was spared, so enjoy them for one more week! Apple season?? As some of you may already know, the apple crop is practically nonexistent this year. A
warm spring caused the trees to bloom early, and a late frost killed nearly all the blossoms.
But we have good news to share too! This year we experimented with grafting onto some of our mature
trees. Grafting allows us to change the variety of apple a tree produces within only a couple of years,
helping us make sure that we can have plenty of your favorite varieties available for you to enjoy!
Grafting is a natural process that trees have been practicing for millennia (in fact, many of the tree roots
beneath your feet are naturally joined by grafting to share nutrients), and has been used by orchardists
since ancient times to produce more and better fruit. See the photos to learn how it works!
Nature has the power to destroy, but also to grow and bring life beyond all expectation!

Chestnuts are falling.... These only fall for a few weeks every fall. Stop by this week at the farmers market and get a pint or two. We hope to see you tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 26th at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market from 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Fall is officially here which means summer vegetables will be gone sooner than you may like 😲 Some of the summertime favorites we are still picking are: tomatoes, sweet corn, cucumbers, and green beans.
