🎆 Fourth of July is officially ONE month away! 🇺🇸🐾

While fireworks may be exciting for us, they can be one of the most stressful and frightening times of the year for our pets. If your pet struggles with anxiety during loud noises, now is the time to be proactive and request anxiety medications or schedule an appointment with one of our doctors to discuss the best options for your furry family member.

We also want to remind everyone that the Fourth of July is the #1 day of the year for pets going missing. Fear from fireworks can cause even the calmest pets to panic, escape yards, break through fences, or run out open doors.

Please take a moment to make sure:
✔️ Your pet’s microchip information is current
✔️ ID tags are attached and readable
✔️ Pets are kept safely indoors during fireworks
✔️ Medications are requested BEFORE the holiday rush

Our goal is to help keep your pets safe, calm, and home where they belong this holiday season. ❤️

If your pet may need support for anxiety, please contact us early so we can try to accommodate your needs.

At Waterford Veterinary Center, the health and safety of our patients, clients, and staff remain our top priority.

Beginning effective immediately, all pets will be required to be current on their rabies vaccination for exams and treatments unless an approved medical exemption is in place. This policy change is being implemented due to an increase in reported rabies cases within surrounding counties, a concern for staff safety, and rigorous business insurance policies.

We would like to take this time to remind our clients that rabies is nearly 100% fatal in human and pets, and staying vaccinated will protect our love ones

To help make this transition easier for our clients, we will be offering discounted rabies vaccines until July 31st 2026 so families have the opportunity to get their pets up to date. The discounted prices are as follows:

- Feline Adjuvant-free Rabies: $30

- Canine Rabies: $20

We understand this change may feel frustrating or inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain a safe environment for everyone who enters our hospital.

If your pet is overdue for rabies vaccination and you believe they may be medically unable to receive the vaccine, we would love to schedule you with one of our doctors to further discuss this. Our veterinarians can evaluate your pet and discuss whether a medical exemption request is appropriate and what risks, if any, a vaccination would pose. Please note that final approval of rabies exemptions is determined by county officials.

If you have questions or would like to schedule your pet’s rabies vaccine appointment, please contact our office at (209)874-4482. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.
