Hello, just a friendly reminder regarding aquarium cycling. Frequent water changes during the cycling process can slow the establishment of beneficial bacteria and may prolong the cycle.

Additionally, if you are considering replacing a filter sponge that has accumulated debris, avoid removing it immediately. Filter sponges house the beneficial bacteria responsible for converting ammonia into nitrites and then nitrates. To prevent disrupting the biological cycle, place the new sponge in the filter alongside the existing sponge for approximately one month before removing the old one. This allows sufficient time for beneficial bacteria to colonize the new sponge and helps maintain a stable, healthy aquarium environment.
