WWAS Pets This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.

WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay

, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

Twix is a 2 year old Tortie still waiting for her forever home. she is u to date with her vaccinations, FIV/FeLV negative and spayed. She does get along with other cats, but is independent and remains to herself most of the time. She is not crazy about being handled, so she would live her best life as an outside/barn cat. She has been at the shelter for roughly 4 months and is ready for the wide open spaces.

He is 50-55 lbs., and current on his vaccinations. He is heartworm positive and is on medication. he will be neutered and chipped when he is adopted or fostered.
