WWAS Pets This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.

WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay

, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

Ellie girl, why are you still at the shelter?? Australian Shepherds are such good pets, smart, lovable and hard working. Ellis is no exception. She is 3 years old, current with her vaccinations, heartworm negative, good with other dogs, good with cats, good with kids, but not good with chickens. She walks well on a leash and she rides great in a car or truck. Great farm dog ( no chickens) or just a great family pet.

This sweet girl is still waiting for her forever family. She is an absolute sweetheart who is and affectionate and loving. It is hard to believe she is still at the shelter because she would make a great family pet. She is young, only 11 months old, current with her vaccinations, heartworm negative, great on a leash, well behaved, good with other dogs, good with kids and is a beautiful brindle . If you are thinking about a dog, come by and meet Miss Hershey and see how many kisses she can give you.

Towanda, one in a litter of 9😳, is a 15 week old cutie. We think the litter is mostly a Hound mix, but Towanda certainly looks a little Yellow Lab-ish. Whatever her breed, she is a lovable little girl who is waiting for a forever family. We have started her (and the whole litter) on their puppy shots and dewormed them. She is playful girl, good with other dogs and would be a great pet for a family with kids. Looking to add a new pet to the home this simmer, then come by and meet Towanda.

No question that these two are from the same litter. They are 15 week old American Bulldog/Boxer mix. Lala is female and Dipsy is male. Both are up to date with their puppy vaccinations and dewormed. We will neuter and chip them. All puppy, with energy , personality, appetites and playfulness. Good family dogs or a playmate for your dog. Come by and meet one or both. Please SHARE,SHARE,SHARE and let's get these puppies a home. The shelter is open Tuesday-Friday 9-2 and Saturday 9-12.
