🚨 TODAY ONLY: YOUR GIFT TRIPLED 🚨

All gifts made today will be TRIPLE MATCHED up to $20,000.

That means:
🐾 $25 = $75 of meals
🐾 $50 = $150 for vaccines
🐾 $150 = $450 to support full care for animals like Donut

❄️ Donut was found freezing, scared, and alone — but thanks to support from people like you, her story took a hopeful turn. 🐾
💔 When Donut arrived at HRA in late winter, she was emaciated and in urgent need of care. Our team helped her begin to heal—but with our shelter over capacity, she needed more than we could provide alone. Through our WayStation program, she traveled to a partner shelter with more room and found a foster home… and in March, a family of her own. 🥰

🚑 Your gift powers every step of these lifesaving journeys—from emergency medical care to transport to second chances.

Don’t miss this chance to do THREE TIMES the good!

: June 💛

With her silly ears, expressive little eyebrow, and gentle heart, June is a total sweetheart. At 7 years old, she’s been through more than any dog should—she was found abandoned in an apartment, just waiting for someone to show her kindness.

Since arriving at HRA, June has been working hard to move forward. She’s calm, affectionate, and always eager for gentle pets and love. One volunteer shared, “June is such a pretty girl and oh so sweet!” And we couldn’t agree more.

She’s looking for a home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and be surrounded by care. June would thrive with someone who will give her love, stability, and lots of cozy moments — everything she’s always deserved. 💙💙

Come meet this special girl and see the joy she brings just by being near.

Donut was pretty bummed when he realized he wasn’t going on field trip yesterday… so HRA’s Social Media Specialist, Nicole, made sure he didn’t miss out on the fun! 🐾💙

He went on a long walk, stopped for treats, visited Silver Branch Brewery where Donut scored a bite (or a few) of cheeseburger 🍔, cruised around in the car listening to music and chatting, and even hung out at the HRA dog park after getting back because… who could say goodbye to that face?

Here’s what this handsome guy showed off during his big day out:
🐾 Great leash manners — easygoing and happy to stroll
🐾 Chill and relaxed overall, with small bursts of energy that are easy to redirect
🐾 A big fan of treats, b***y scratchies, and giving kisses — he loved meeting people!
🐾 Calm and curious at the brewery — he quietly watched birds hop nearby with zero fuss 🐦
🐾 Passed by a few dogs and stayed friendly and unbothered
🐾 Needs a cat-free home

Back at the shelter, Donut trotted into his den, tail wagging, and dove into his dinner like the happy, content pup he is. 💙

Donut — and dogs like him — thrive when they get time outside the shelter to just be themselves. Fostering, adopting, or even taking a pup on a fun day out can make all the difference.

❄️ Donut was found freezing, scared, and alone—but thanks to your support, her story took a hopeful turn. 🐾

When Donut arrived at Humane Rescue Alliance in late winter 2024, she was emaciated and in urgent need of medical care. Our team helped her begin to heal, both physically and emotionally—but with our shelter over capacity, we knew her journey to recovery could stall without the space and environment she needed to fully open up.

That’s why we turned to our incredible partners at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center through the WayStation program, which transports animals to shelters with more space and greater adoption opportunities. There, Donut found a loving foster home—and in March 2025, she found a family of her own. 💙

🙏 Your donation powers every step of these lifesaving journeys—from medical care to cross-state transports.

Give by June 30 and your gift will be matched $1-for-$1, doubling your impact for animals like Donut.

🚨 URGENT FOSTER PLEA — 4 Dogs, 1 Big Ask! 🐾🏡

Shelter life is ruff — and Splash, Peppa, Fjord, and Bentley need a break. Even just 2 weeks in a loving foster home can help them decompress and start thriving.

💦 Splash – 71lbs of smart, treat-loving goofball energy. He knows his tricks and is working hard to stay focused and calm.
🐷 Peppa – Our Next Top Model finalist. Full of zoomies, belly flops, and very expressive ears. She is convinced she might be going viral soon…
🎩 Bentley – The dad-joke enthusiast of the dog world. Chill, pun-loving, and currently fake-dating Peppa (they are even successfully housing together!).
❄ Fjord – Young and curious with a sniffer-dog nose. He’s doing so well with structure and enrichment. He absolutely LOVES his playdates with other dogs. 🐕

🍦If Peppa and Bentley were people, they’d be at an ice cream parlor: Bentley with Neapolitan + rainbow sprinkles, Peppa with strawberry + gummy bears. And yes, she laughs at all his puns.
🛋️ They don’t need to go together, but fostering either one (or any of these cuties!) would be a huge help.

📩 Email [email protected] to get started or ask questions!

Let’s get these pups a soft place to land 💛

🚨 EXTREME HEAT WARNING – PET SAFETY ALERT 🚨 — Washington, DC and the DMV are facing a dangerous heatwave, with temps near 100°F and heat indexes over 110°F.

🚘 Leaving pets in cars — even for a minute, even in the shade or with windows cracked — is deadly.

⚠️ Shade and cracked windows DO NOT KEEP PETS SAFE
– Cars heat up fast like a greenhouse, trapping dangerous heat inside
– A shaded car can still reach over 100°F quickly
– Shade moves and windows cracked just slow heat, they don’t stop it
– Dogs can’t cool down well by panting alone

‼️ No amount of time is safe — not 5 minutes, not 1 minute, not ever. ‼️

🆘 See a pet left alone in a car? ☀️🚘
📞 Contact our Humane Law Enforcement Department immediately at 202-723-5730 — It’s an emergency.
Officers respond 24/7 to animals in danger.

🔥 Signs of heatstroke:
Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, unresponsiveness, red or pale gums.

☀️ Keep pets safe this summer:
- Walk early or late when temps cool down
- Always provide shade and water outside
- Keep pets indoors on extreme heat days
❌ Never leave pets unattended in vehicles

💬 Please share this with loved ones.
Many well-meaning people believe leaving pets in a shaded car with windows cracked is safe — but it’s not. You could save a life by spreading the word.
