Our sweet Roux is back home! We picked up Roux and Whiskey (her buddy), from Cascade Veterinary Hospital, this evening. She was all over Dr. Timothy… just wanting some butt scratches! We’re so grateful. She’s doing amazing.

While we have been traveling, Roux had been staying with our good friends at Half Ass Acres. Saturday morning, we got a call that we were having a baby. Excitement quickly turned into fear, as the foal was not coming. Our friends had their vet come and there was no saving the foal. We then we had them take her to our vet. Our vet was able to remove her but, like I said before, there was no saving her. She was severely breeched and was already gone. THANKFULLY, our vet did a fantastic job and diligently worked to save Roux. The outcome was uncertain for Roux… but we are happy to report that Roux is now doing pretty great. Overall, we could not be more pleased. She will continue to stay with our vet throughout the weekend. She is still on some heavy antibiotics. We brought her friend to keep her company but she’s back to being perky and wanting butt scratches. When you breed, anything can happen. But we’re so fortunate to have the team that we do. We can’t say thank you enough to Dayle and Joe for watching over her and being the friends that they are… and to Cascade Veterinary Hospital for being some of the best veterinarians we could ever have.

We’ve been very lucky with being able to drive our friends very well trained driving donkeys at shows. We’ve been able to learn a lot from them. But today was my (Savannah) first day ever getting to drive one of my own in a show. What makes it even more special is that it was Murphy. Murphy is our 7 year old herd sire. He was our very first donkey and the reason why we decided to start breeding. I’ve only driven him about 10 times before today. There’s quite a bit that still needs to be worked on but what matters most to me is that he makes me feel safe. He doesn’t really back yet and is hard to keep in a trot… but I’m never nervous with this boy. He acts like an old, reliable gelding. He’ll probably never be competitive in the speed classes 🤣 but we are so extremely lucky to have a jack like him. This was only his second show… with his first one being two years ago… and this was his first time driving in a show. So proud of him!

Here is a shoutout to Blue Ribbon Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Sallisaw, OK for seeing us on our way to the Little Long Ears Show! We had a false alarm with inactive codes (thankfully) but we were greeted by some of the nicest people at this dealership! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! If anyone is ever in the area, we can’t recommend them enough!

We had such a great time at the CA Gold Rush Show…. but now it’s time to get ready for the TN H***y Tonk Miniature Donkey Extravaganza !! NMDA and ACOSA Sanctioned, FREE youth classes, and PAYOUTS in classes with 5+ entries. Offering not only Youth, Pre-Green, Green, and Open… but we are now offering Non-Driving Categories that are also split into Green and Open! We’re excited to see you there!

We started heading home from CA at 7:30am PST on Monday… and got home at 10:00pm CST last night! My mom and I made the trip in 36.5 hours… pretty crazy 🤣 but we’re happy to be back home for a few days. We’ve been gone for 10 days… so it’s fun to see how dark Mayzie’s coat in coming in again

We are SO extremely proud of SAMD Main Attraction and SAMD Catch A Wave Quigley. At only 8 months old, out of 13 Green donkeys… SAMD Main Attraction (Ozzy) won NMDA High Point Green, at the CA Gold Rush Miniature Donkey Show!! 8 month old Quigley also had a fantastic show and won ACOSA Reserve Champion! Ozzy is our first donkey to ever win High Point Champion. It feels extremely special to have been able to raise these boys, show them, and now hand them off to Tracy and Homer. We cried when we hugged them and said “see you soon!” We sure will miss those boys running around the property. We’re so grateful that our family was able to come for a while!
