Hot summer days mean your horses need plenty of fresh, clean water to stay healthy and feel their best. A horse can drink 10–20+ gallons of water a day, and even more during periods of heat, exercise, or humidity.

A few simple reminders:
Clean water troughs and buckets daily.
Check water levels often throughout the day.
Provide shade whenever possible.
Offer electrolytes when appropriate after heavy work or excessive sweating.
Watch for signs of dehydration, such as dry gums, lethargy, or reduced skin elasticity.

At Inwood Stables, we know that something as simple as a fresh drink of water can make all the difference. Happy, hydrated horses are healthier horses.
