Dogma Biscuit Co Pet Disaster Readiness
Part 3: After the Disaster

🐾 Don't let your pets roam freely after a disaster. Familiar sights, sounds, and smells may have changed, making it easy for them to become disoriented or lost.

🐾 While you assess your home for damage, keep pets on a leash, in a carrier, or in a crate—even indoors. Wait until you've completed a thorough safety inspection before allowing them more freedom.

🐾 Be patient as your pet adjusts. Stress and anxiety can cause temporary changes in behavior. Returning to a familiar routine can help them feel safe again.

🐾 Stay alert for displaced wildlife and stray animals. Disasters often force animals from their natural habitats, so keep a close eye on your pets whenever they're outside.

🐾 Always have a backup plan. Choose one or two trusted people who know your pets and can care for them if you're unable to during an emergency.

🐾❤️🐾 When disaster strikes, every second counts... Is your pet's emergency plan ready? 🐾❤️🐾

Dogma Biscuit Co Pet Disaster Plan: Part 2

🐾 Don't wait until a wildfire, house fire, tornado, hurricane, blizzard, or other emergency is at your doorstep. Planning ahead can make all the difference.
🐾 Make sure your pet is wearing current ID tags and that their microchip registration is up to date.
🐾 Predetermine a safe evacuation location whenever possible. Know which friends, family members, hotels, or shelters will welcome your pets.
🐾 If you evacuate... TAKE YOUR PETS! If it isn't safe for you, it isn't safe for them.
🐾 If you're sheltering in place, keep your pet indoors in a safe, enclosed area such as a crate or a familiar room. Remove hazards like combustible materials, toxic cleaners, medications, and anything they could chew or ingest.
🐾 Keep at least 5–7 days of food and fresh water for each pet, along with any medications they may need.
