Yesterday was the last show of the year for the dynamic duo of Adelyn and Holly Would and they wrapped it up with a bang! After taking the Champion ribbon in the Mini Stirrup Eq, they changed it up to win "Best Portrayal of Movie Characters" in the Halloween costume class as Jessie and Bullseye from the Toy Story movies. They went back into the show ring in the Mini Stirrup Hunters and missed Reserve Champions by just a few points. This clinched their position as Reserve Champions for the Sussex series for 2026 in both divisions!! On this gorgeous Fall day, Adelyn achieved the goal that she set for herself at last year's awards banquet of being Reserve in at least one of these divisions in 2026. What terrific determination from such a young girl, and what a wonderful partner she has in Holly. Next year will be a step up to the Short Stirrup division and I'm sure I will be just as proud of them then as I am now!!

I am so pleased to announce that Jessica and Henry (aka "Paint It Black") have ended their 2026 show season with a huge bang! Today the ESDCTA Championships were held at the Horse Park of New Jersey. They ended up placing first in both of their Training Level Division 2 classes with scores of 69.3% and 70.2% and were Division Champions! I am so happy for and proud of the both of them.

Jessica and Henry (Paint It Black) went back to Square One today and put down two really excellent tests for judge Carol Seaman who rewarded them with the highest score of the day (74%) and the two highest scores of Jessica's dressage career (the other was a 73%). They won both classes and were EOY Champions in the Training division and Reserve Champions for Jake's Challenge (missing Champions by a whisker). A great way to end the regular show season and to prepare for the Championships next week!

Yesterday, Grace showed Laddie at Heavenly Rose and had a good day. This was their third show together and they showed the Beginner Rider division where they did their first over fences class at the canter. I was very proud of both of them, and they had some stellar moments! Grace is growing as a rider and horsewoman every day and I expect great things from her in the future! It was Dad's first time seeing his daughter show and he was very active in the pictures department - so enjoy the pics!!

Jessica and Henry (aka Paint it Black) showed at Square One Dressage yesterday and showed how well their partnership is developing. They showed in Training and won both Test 2 (70%) and Test 3 (65%) and, more importantly, demonstrated improved balance and harmony throughout the tests. I am so proud of the work Jessica is putting into Henry and I know she is very proud of how hard he tries every time she asks for something more or something new. Such a good boy!!

Here is an update on the third of the four shows we've gone to in the past several days. On Monday, Adelyn and Grace took their mounts to Local & Friends Day at the Fair. Once again, Adelyn and Holly started us off first thing the 10 and under WT Equitation division, where they were Champions! They also showed a couple of classes in the 10 and under WT Hunters, taking 3rd and 5th place ribbons. But the rider showing an indomitable spirit was Grace. Just as she was about to show, the skies opened and she and Laddie stood there getting soaked just before going in for their jumping classes in the Open Equitation Crossrail division. But off they went into the ring when their turn came. Laddie never hesitated and Grace rode over fences in a show for the first time in a downpour. They placed in all of their classes, and I was ever so proud, especially when Grace said afterwards, "That was so much fun!" Words we should all aspire to remember - that's what it's all about, right? Enjoy the pics!

With so many shows in such a short period (4 in 8 days), I'm a bit behind in my postings. Here is the next in the series! On Sunday, Jessica took her new horse, Paint It Black (aka Henry), to Square One for their first away dressage show and got some great results. Not only did they win both their Training 1 and 2 classes, but they also took the blue in the Jake's Challenge Test and Henry was the High Score Horse for the day! What a great start to their partnership on the road. I'm really looking forward to seeing what these two can accomplish together.
