We have seen the struggles with the Post Office to deliver your monthly check on time. Everyone’s check is mailed out at the same time and it seems lately the delays continue and we understand it must be a burden on you.

We are looking into offering direct deposits again as we found a more affordable solution and secured via encryption.

Before we pursue this yet again, we are looking to get a confirmation from those interested in using this service.

All we are asking for at this time is that you email or call us stating that you would be in favor of using this service.

Race Horse Development Fund (RHDF)

Members: We spent most of yesterday pouring through the Governor’s Fiscal 26 budget to understand whether or not the Governor wiped out funding for the Race Horse Development Fund (RHDF) as threatened. She did not.

The language around the RHDF – which funds purses, health and welfare benefits for our retirees, and breeding – appears unchanged. As you know, we have faced this threat for the past several years, including in the Senate, and we will remain vigilant as the budget moves to the House and then to the Senate.

We are sad to announce that Patricia Meadow has passed away.

She was a New England Trainer who loved racing and going to Saratoga. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

We will post more information about any arrangements as we are notified.

Arlene Francis Spadea (Oxley) Obituary and Funeral Arrangements

Passed away peacefully at home after a long courageous battle surrounded by family. She leaves behind her husband and childhood sweetheart of 60 years, Anthony Spadea Jr, their three children, Kimberly Spadea & fiance Stephen Bogue of Hampton NH, Michelle Spadea Galvin of Braintree, and Anthony Spadea III and his wife Elizabeth Spadea of Braintree. Grandchildren, Kenneth Haslm III, Brittany Spadea, Anthony Spadea IV, Jack Spadea, and Lex Spadea. Great grandchildren Aubrey Haslam, Calleigh Haslam, Kenny Haslam, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Arlene graduated from Mansfield Beauty Academy and specifically loved being a colorist, she also spent some time working in the family business, Braintree Insurance Agency Inc. Ultimately what Arlene loved the most was being a homemaker. She fiercely loved her family and put her heart and soul into caring for those she loved. Arlene’s home was always open to all and was known for giving those who needed a place to stay a heartfelt welcome. She and her husband spent many years traveling and vacationing with close friends and could spend days telling amazing memorable stories. Arlene loved to have fun, and especially loved to dance even if it was in her kitchen. She had amazing relationships with her close friends that spanned over 60 years, those same friends who were sure to be by her side during these last difficult years. She loved to entertain no matter the season or occasion, but especially loved the summer when family and friends could enjoy the pool, which was known by many as “The Tara”. Arlene also loved to crochet and if you were lucky enough to receive something handmade by her it was a true expression of her love for you.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation period on Monday, December 2nd, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers please donate to The Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street West Bridgewater MA.
