We are committed to stopping the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets by ending overpopulation and homelessness. To achieve this, we provide quality shelter, spay/neuter, foster care, adoption, and re-homing services for companion animals in our community. We provide spay/neuter and humane education, animal control services, and cruelty and neglect investigation services to ensure that companion animals have home with responsible, committed and loving caregivers.

Dog Jog is TOMORROW!

We’d like to give one more sponsor shoutout to Walla Walla Toyota, our Silver Paw sponsor.

On top of their monetary sponsorship, they have donated the Dog Jog totes for our swag bags and are helping us out by lending us their golf cart for setup and teardown.

WW Toyota will have a booth at the event, so you can stop by, say hi, and thank them for their support of BMHS!

Dog Jog is just two days away! It’s not too late to register and get your swag – you can even register at the event! 🐕

Early check-in will be available from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at the shelter, 7 E. George St. in Walla Walla.

This is a great way to get your swag bag ahead of time and avoid the check-in line on the day of the event.

On Sunday, May 31, meet us at 8:30 a.m. at the parking lot next to the baseball fields at WWCC where there will be food for purchase, coffee, water, and information booths by our partners.

We can’t wait to see you there!

We are proud to recognize the generous support of our Dog Jog 2026 sponsors. Special thanks to Gold Paw Sponsors Coffey Communications and Basalt Legal PLLC, Silver Paw Sponsor Walla Walla Toyota, and Promotional Partners Elkhorn Media Group and Beebe Therapy Group. We’re also grateful to our T-Shirt Sponsors, including Brookdale Walla Walla Senior Living, Compass Financial Services, Tera Davis - Mortgage Express, Elsom Roofing, Inc., Embrace Veterinary Services, Let's Go Dog Training, P1FCU, SuperFast Tax Service, Rocko, Total Comfort Solutions, Walla Walla Fire Department CARES and Walla Walla Print Co.

We'd like to thank Plaza Safeway Walla Walla for their donation of 320 bottled waters for this Sunday's Dog Jog!

Even this little kitten, who is approximately 0.6 water bottles tall, knows hydration is important. 💦

Safeway's donation will help keep walkers, runners, joggers, and pets cool and hydrated throughout the event.

Support like theirs makes events like Dog Jog possible, and much more enjoyable for participants.

Thank you!

Brock is scheduled to return from his 8-week training course at Washington State Penitentiary on Friday, June 5. 🎓

He was already a good boy, and now he’s coming back a model citizen!

Handlers in the Prison Dog Program work on commands such as sit, down, come, walking on a leash, and other skills.

Once the eight-week training program has ended, dogs come back to the shelter, more suited for their forever homes.

If this soon-to-be graduate sounds like a good fit for your home, you can submit an application for him at bluemountainhumane.org/apply-now. He's excited to show off his new skills!

Meet Odin!

His name may sound mighty, but he is a sweet young dog looking for a forever home.

Previous owners say he gets along well with cats and knows how to sit on command, but small dogs make him a little nervous.

Odin is currently at BMHS and ready to meet his new people! Fill out an application at bluemountainhumane.org/apply-now and come meet him today.

These four beautiful kittens, Keona, Gilda, Kane, and Eve, are all still learning that people can be pretty cool.

Right now, they’re keeping their distance from humans, but with some coaxing, they have come out to play.

They’re young, and they may still have time to become warm, snuggly floofs. All they need is to build trust.

If you are interested in fostering to socialize or adopting one of these adorable kitties, call us at 509-525-2452 or come in and meet them.

T-Shirts are in! Dog Jog is happening this Sunday, and things are getting pretty exciting around here.

In the next couple of days, we’ll be stuffing swag bags full of goodies and getting all the other details nailed down so that Dog Jog 2026 is a big success.

While the free T-Shirt registration deadline has passed, all those who register for Dog Jog will still receive a swag bag and any fundraising prizes they earn.

There will be some T-Shirts for sale at the event while supplies last.

To register for the event and make the most of the last few days of fundraising, go to secure.qgiv.com/event/dogjog2026/register/form/registration.
