🎃 Keep Your Pets Safe Tomorrow Evening 🐾

Halloween is all treats for us, but it can be tricky for our furry friends! Here are a few tips to make sure your pets have a safe and stress-free night:

👻 Keep pets inside, or ensure gates and fences are secure for outdoor friends.
🧙‍♀️ Create a calm zone. Doorbells and knocking can be stressful.
🍫 No candy for critters! Chocolate and Xylitol in sugar-free candies are toxic.
🕯️ Skip flames. Opt for flameless candles.
🦇 Costumes - only if they love them and aren't restrictive.
🐶 ID is a must! Keep microchip information up-to-date. If your pet does escape, visit LostPetsWaco.com to view the interactive map of animals picked up by Animal Protection Officers.

Meet Rufus | 4 yrs | 78 lbs

A Big Goofball Who Thinks He's a Lap Dog! 💙🐶

😂 This lovable boy is convinced he belongs right in your lap, handing out kisses and soaking up all the affection he can get! 🥰

🎾 Rufus LOVES playing ball in the yard and has a fun, playful personality. He's dog-friendly and has even done well sharing a home with another dog!

❤️ Rufus is also kid-friendly, but because he doesn't quite understand his own size (or personal space 😆), a home with older children may be his best fit.

A few things to know about this handsome guy:
🐾 He can be a little nervous around strangers and needs time to warm up.
🐾 He's a strong boy who pulls hard on leash and could use some help with his walking manners.
🐾 Cats and other small critters are NOT his friends, so a cat-free home is best.

Underneath all that goofy energy is a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to love and be loved. Rufus is looking for a family who will give him a little patience, plenty of playtime, and a lap to call his own (whether he fits or not)! 😂💙

📖 Meet Enos | 1 yr | 55 lbs

Enos is a friendly, outgoing sweetheart who loves people and isn't shy about asking for attention! 🥰 This handsome guy is calm, social, and gentle. He enjoys a tasty treat (especially bones and Goldfish crackers!), and he's got brains to go with that handsome face. He even knows how to sit on command! 🦴🐟

He is a big, strong boy who gets pretty excited on walks, so he'll need someone who can handle his pulling and help him polish those leash manners. He's also shown quite an interest in chasing cats, so a cat-free home may be his best fit. 😆🐱

But underneath all that muscle is a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants someone to love!

🐾 Remember Bloop? | 2 yrs | 47 lbs 💙

Bloop LOVES to go on Bark Breaks, and he's the perfect mix of calm and playful! He loves splashing around in the water, enjoys a good sniffing adventure, and walks beautifully on a leash. 🐕‍🦺

Even with other dogs barking all around him at the shelter, Bloop stays cool, calm, and collected. 😎 He's dog-friendly, enjoys playtime, and is always happy to hand out some kisses! 😘

Bloop can be a little unsure around men at first, but give him some time to warm up and let his sweet personality shine!

Friendly, gentle, quiet, and just the right amount of playful, Rex is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how he hasn't been scooped up already! 🥹❤️

🎾 And this boy knows how to FETCH! Rex doesn't just chase the ball — he brings it right back so the fun can keep going! He's got great energy, loves to play, and is dog-friendly, too!

Remember Silkie? | 5 yrs | 62 lbs

This beautiful girl is our longest resident, having been waiting at the shelter since January 5, 2026. She loves going on Bark Breaks, but is ready for a permanent break on your comfy couch! Just look at her sweet face in these photos from her recent adventures.

She’s playful, loves being around people, enjoys car rides, is fully potty trained, and she’ll even let you know when she needs to go outside. 👏

This smart girl also knows sit, shake, and lay down, and she LOVES a good game of fetch.

Silkie is looking for a calm, supportive home where she can settle in and be her wonderful self. She takes some time to warm up to other dogs and would prefer to be your one-and-only pup, which just means she gets to keep all the toys for herself. 😉

🐾 Why does Pet Circle have specific animal intake hours?

Our animal intake hours are 1–4 p.m. Monday–Friday and 1–3 p.m. Saturday, and that schedule helps us provide the best possible care for every animal coming through our doors.
Before the shelter opens to the public, and before animal intake begins, our team is already hard at work behind the scenes. Mornings are dedicated to feeding, cleaning, administering medications, providing medical treatments, and ensuring the animals already in our care have what they need for the day.

Once intake opens, staff can shift their focus to incoming animals. Every intake involves much more than finding an open kennel. The intake process includes:
🐾 A medical evaluation
💉 Vaccinations and preventatives
🔎 A microchip scan and/or microchipping
🩺 Immediate care based on the animal’s condition
📝 Documentation and processing
🤝 Staff time to gather information and assist the person bringing in the animal

Dedicated intake hours allow our team to complete essential care for the animals already here while being prepared to give new arrivals the time and attention they need. 💙

Found a loose pet before the shelter or intake opens?
🐾 Check for identification or visit one of Waco’s 24/7 microchip scanning locations: petcirclewaco.org/chipcheck.
📱 Submit a found pet report through Petco Love Lost and share the pet on local lost-and-found pages.
🐈 If you’re able to safely contain the pet, keep them secure until intake opens.
☎️ If you cannot safely contain the animal and you are in Waco, contact Animal Protection for guidance at (254) 750-1765. Animals that are injured, aggressive, involved in a bite, or present an immediate safety concern should be reported right away.
