AWA was founded in 1948 by a small group of community activists who wanted to address and help the issue of unwanted pets in our community. In our adoption program, we have dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals. We also have a pet clinic that allows us to further our mission to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare to pets in our community. You can

At AWA's Camp Tails & Whiskers Summer Camp, campers have the opportunity to create their own Pokémon cards of the animals at the shelter. These drawings are from our talented campers who used their imaginations to create something truly special. We love seeing how the next generation of animal lovers express their love and connection to animals.

Class is in session! AWA's Ready Fur School Library Program is a fun and engaging literacy program for children ages 5–11!

Participants will build reading confidence by reading to Mama Bun, AWA's Education Rabbit, while learning about kindness, animal behavior, and responsible pet care through interactive humane education activities. Each participant will receive a copy of the book, Love Me Gently, an activity book, and a plush reading companion to continue practicing their reading skills at home.

There is just 3 days left in our It's Raining Cats event and we are close to reaching our goal of 400 adoptions. With cat & kitten fees just $75 and an adoption team dedicated to finding the cat that fits your lifestyle, we believe we can find 400 families by the end of August.

Tomorrow, August 29 from 11am-6pm is our Raining Cats Adopt-a-Thon. We encourage you to visit AWA and meet your future companion. Reaching our goal of 400 adoptions means 400 cats and kittens will have the chance to leave the shelter and begin their next chapter in loving homes.

AWA is in urgent need of dry kitten food. 🐱

We are running critically low on dry kitten food and need your help! If you are able to donate, even a little goes a long way. Restocking dry kitten food quickly makes a direct difference for the animals in our care.

You can donate by dropping off the items during normal shelter hours or anytime at our outside donation bins by the front entrance. Or you can ship to us at: 509 Centennial Blvd, Voorhees, NJ 08043.

Help us keep our shelter cats safe, happy and fed! Our furry friends along with the staff and volunteers at AWA send a generous thank you for your contributions.
