I could use some help.

A lot of our fans and guests would like their older relatives to come and share in the joy of visiting all of our friendly rescued animals.

We have a quad and small utility vehicle that our volunteers use for all the farm jobs, which is blessing, but it takes a lot of time and effort to make them look (and smell) like desirable tour vehicle options.

We can’t spend a ton of money right now, as we need to save all the money we can to pay for the winter hay bill, but if anyone is willing to donate or give a discounted price on a decent golf cart, PLEASE let me know.

A 2 seater cart would help, a 4 seater cart would be an AMAZING option, and a 6+ seater cart would be a DREAM come TRUE. But being able to share the beauty of the farm and all its residents, with guests who are unable to walk the property, is the best of all.

Yesterday, when I went to get something out of our Outhouse / Package box, a wasp flew out, chased me down, stung my cheek and then kept chasing and dive bombing me trying to sting me again !?!?!?!

I’ve never seen a nest or wasp in the outhouse, have no clue why Rambo Wasp was so angry, or what I did to be targeted, but this morning, my cheek is still a little swollen and I have a blister where I got stung.

As soon as I get my courage up, me, a new can of wasp killer spray and a flame thrower are going to return to the scene of the crime, and if I don’t feel safe after emptying the entire can into the outhouse, then I will simply burn it down.

I even put in a pollinator garden this summer and this is the thanks I get!!! The first meeting of the Southampton Chapter of the “WhatTheHellAreWaspsEvenGoodFor” will be held next week. Stay tuned for details.

And just like clockwork, it never fails.

I am on fire in a sauna, embedded in battle against flies, manure & maggots. Time and day fade away as I put one damp foot in front of the other, over and over again. One day out of the corner of my eye, I notice a spider web, and then another. I slowly spin around and realize in silent horror, that my house is now covered in cobwebs - each one filled with varying amounts of dog hair and dead flies.

They weren’t there yesterday?!?! There is no way that I have been living in a den of filth all summer and just overlooked it until now? Right?!?! I am Positive that I vacuumed yesterday! How could an army of bionic web making spiders get into the house unnoticed, and create a thriving empire overnight?

I thought I was a decent enough house keeper? Is this step one in the Haunted Homes for Dummies rule book? Am I becoming a crazy cat lady ? (Ok that’s a question for another time) Oh crap, is it August again?

A quick check of the calendar and I discover, August in fact has arrived. July felt like a very long month, but I still thought we were only halfway through it. Clearly the fog of the war has clouded my judgement. This is our 8th August at Muddy Paws Farm and the 8th time I forgot it was coming.

Happy web making August to all those who observe, and may your vacuum be strong, unclogged, and you not fall off the step ladder when trying to reach the corners of the ceiling.
