In one of our duck pens we currently have male and female ducks. We make sure to collect the eggs daily so we don’t end up with any babies.

The female Muscovy duck, Mia, wedged herself behind a tub in the duck house and created a little nest in the tiny opening. We didn’t notice it at first, and by the time we saw her, she was lying on an egg and very clearly let us know that she would not be moving.

We let her keep her the egg and with no guarantee that it was fertile, and no other active ducks sitting on eggs, we hoped she would lose interest and move on.

Spoiler alert - it was a fertile egg, as were the other 9 eggs beside it, and Mia the duck did NOT loose interest, nor move on.
