In training, riders should have discipline — think of making every minute productive. For example, there are only two ways to walk: a relaxed walk with a long and loose rein; or with contact, marching forward and following the neck movement. And not on the cell phone! Every moment in the tack should be spent with your horse and not absent-minded.

Remember: every time you sit in the saddle, you are having a conversation with your horse, and therefore having an influence on your horse’s psychological and physical training.

Who doesn't love a pretty Stocking Stuffer? This stunning Thoroughbred (Double Warrant x Christmastime) was Regular Conformation Hunter Champion throughout the 1970s, including at Upperville with Charlie Weaver in 1977 and 1978 as captured by the legendary Bob Foster. Stocking Stuffer was Horse of the Year in 1975 with Ira Zimmerman and has been inducted into the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame.
