Asphalt can reach 150°F when the air is only 85°F. That's hot enough to cause burns in seconds.

Quick Test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If you can't keep it there, neither can your dog.

Pets can overheat quickly, especially flat-faced breeds, senior pets, and those with thick coats. Watch for:

- Heavy panting
- Excessive drooling
- Lethargy and/or weakness
- Vomiting

Traveling with your pet this Memorial Day weekend?

A few things to prepare:

• Make sure flea/tick/heartworm prevention is current
• Research if a health certificate is needed for travel.
• Pack food, water, meds, and vet records
• Update microchip contact info
• Never leave pets in hot cars

Memorial Day Weekend is here, so please make sure you and your pets are prepared!

Here are somethings to consider:

TRAVEL: If you’re planning to travel with your pet, be sure to bring along any necessary medications to ensure their comfort throughout the journey! If you’ll be boarding them, please give us a call to confirm that they are current on all required boarding vaccinations.

MEDICATIONS: If your pet requires chronic medications or a prescription diet, please check your supply to ensure you don't run out during the long weekend. If you need a refill reach out ASAP!

FIREWORKS & LOUD NOISES: If your pet experiences anxiety triggered by loud noises, ensure you have the appropriate medications to keep them calm and comfortable during fireworks.

OIFFICE CLOSURES & EMERGENCIES:
The Verona & Montclair Animal Hospitals will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25th.

*Message our staff, who will promptly respond once we are back
*Order medications from our online pharmacy. Please be aware that shipping times may be impacted by the holiday.
