Meet Cappuccino, an approximately 2-year-old bearded dragon whose case is an incredible example of what specialized exotic medicine and collaboration can accomplish. 💚

Cappuccino came to Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital with a serious reproductive condition known as obstructive dystocia, with retained follicles and egg material affecting her health. She was underweight, eating less, and simply wasn’t acting like herself.

Because of the complexity of her condition, Dr. Madison Bajc partnered with Dr. Shelby Baden of Veterinary Emergency Group South Tampa to perform a delicate ovariosalpingectomy, removing the affected reproductive tissue while carefully protecting the surrounding organs and structures.

And Cappuccino handled it beautifully!

Since surgery:
🦎 She’s regained weight
🥬 Her appetite has improved
💚 Her personality is back
🦎 She continues to thrive

Cappuccino’s story highlights the importance of advanced diagnostics, specialized surgical skills, and veterinary collaboration, especially when caring for exotic patients with complex needs.

Please join us in welcoming Jocelyn to the Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital family! 🎉

Jocelyn joined our team in June as a Certified Veterinary Assistant, but she may already be a familiar face to some. She previously completed her externship right here at Noah’s Ark while earning her CVA certification, and we’re so excited to have her back as an official member of the team!

Veterinary medicine also happens to run in the family. Jocelyn is the sister of our veterinary technician, Maria! She has a passion for continuing to grow her skills, with a special interest in learning more about exotic animal medicine. 🦎🐰🐦

Outside the hospital, Jocelyn enjoys movies, shopping, and spending time with her own pets: Kitty (aka “Batman” 🐈‍⬛) and her two ferrets, Tito and Boba.

Meet Luna! This adorable pupper recently had her first visit with us.

Luna is already well underway with her puppy care, and during this visit, she received a full exam, continued her recommended vaccinations and preventives, and even squeezed in a nail trim. And judging by that second photo, she was pretty pleased with herself! 😂

Why are those early puppy visits so important? Puppies need a series of vaccines and boosters as they grow to build protection against several serious, and sometimes life-threatening, diseases, including:

🐶 Distemper: A highly contagious virus that can affect the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems.

🦠 Parvovirus: A highly contagious disease that can cause severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and life-threatening illness, especially in puppies.

🐾 Adenovirus: Helps protect against canine infectious hepatitis, which can cause serious liver disease.

💧 Leptospirosis: A bacterial disease that can damage the kidneys and liver and can also spread to people. Dogs may be exposed through contaminated water, soil, or wildlife urine, making prevention especially important here in Florida.

🦇 Rabies: A fatal viral disease that affects the nervous system and can spread to people and other animals.

Early visits also help us monitor your puppy’s growth and development, establish year-round protection against heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites, and catch potential concerns early.

Hei Hei, an 8-year-old blue-tongued skink, recently visited Dr. Bajc for his annual wellness exam, and we're happy to report he received a clean bill of health! 💙

Delilah and Loki may have come to Noah's Ark Animal Hospital for a visit, but they also made sure to cheer each other on every step of the way!

Jo-Mar, one of our experienced technicians from Temple Terrace Animal Hospital, recently worked alongside Maria to teach her how to perform a goat blood draw. Delilah was the perfect patient, and Maria successfully collected the sample on her very first try! 🎉

Meanwhile, Loki made it his personal mission to provide plenty of moral support (and keep an eye out for snacks 🍪). When it was time for hoof trims, the roles reversed, and Delilah stayed close by to return the favor.

These adorable 6-month-old goats remind us that every patient, and every species, deserves compassionate, personalized care. Whether your pet has paws, hooves, feathers, or scales, our team is here to help them stay happy and healthy.

Leia, a sweet 1-year-old Pug, came to see us for what was supposed to be a quick technician appointment for a nail trim. During her visit, our team noticed she seemed unusually itchy.

Rather than having Leia come back another day, Dr. Bajc was able to fit her into her schedule for an exam. After identifying the cause of her discomfort, she started Leia on treatment to help relieve her itchiness and get her feeling more comfortable.

At Noah's Ark Animal Hospital, we're always looking at the whole patient because every visit is an opportunity to support your pet's health. Taking the time to address those concerns helps keep pets like Leia happy, healthy, and feeling their best.

🐰❤️ Every rescue deserves a healthy start.

When Nyx, a 2-year-old rabbit, was found in a local park, her new family knew the first stop on her journey home should be a wellness visit.

Dr. Bajc and Rosa performed a thorough nose-to-tail exam to help ensure Nyx was healthy and ready to begin her next chapter. Wellness visits are an important part of rabbit care, giving us the opportunity to evaluate everything from teeth and body condition to heart, lungs, and overall health while answering questions about nutrition, housing, and preventive care.

We're so happy Nyx found a loving family, and we're honored to be part of her story.

Some patients have been with us for years, while others are just beginning their journey, and we're honored to care for them every step of the way.

Homer, a 9-year-old Basset Hound, recently visited Dr. Madison Bajc for his annual wellness exam. A longtime patient of Dr. Sharon Hunter, Homer quickly made Dr. Bajc feel like an old friend, reminding us that trust is at the heart of everything we do.

On the other end of the spectrum is this sweet little kitten, found outdoors by his new family and brought to Dr. Hunter for his very first visit. At about 9 weeks old, he received his first FVRCP vaccine, which helps protect kittens against several common and potentially serious feline viruses, and was dewormed to give him a healthy start. He may not have a name just yet, but he's already found a caring family and a veterinary team ready to watch him grow.

Whether we're welcoming a brand-new kitten or caring for a longtime friend like Homer, our commitment remains the same: providing compassionate, personalized care for every stage of life. 🩵
