As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that pets can overheat quickly, especially here in Florida. A little prevention can go a long way in keeping your companions safe and comfortable all summer long.

☀️ Tips to Keep Pets Cool:
• Always provide fresh, cool water
• Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
• Test pavement with your hand before walks
• Provide shade and cool resting areas outdoors
• Never leave pets in parked vehicles — even for a minute

⚠️ Signs of Overheating:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Weakness or collapse
• Bright red gums or tongue

🚨 What To Do:
Move your pet to a cool area immediately, offer small amounts of cool water, and use damp towels on the paws, ears, and belly.

If you suspect heatstroke or overheating, contact us immediately or call your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

Meet Misty 🐦💙🧡

Caring for pets comes in all shapes, sizes, and species, and that includes our feathered friends, too! Misty recently visited us for a beak trim, an important part of keeping many birds comfortable, healthy, and able to eat properly.

A bird’s beak is constantly growing, and when it becomes overgrown or uneven, it can interfere with eating, grooming, and overall quality of life. Using specialized tools and a gentle approach, our team carefully helped reshape Misty’s beak while keeping her safe and comfortable throughout the process.

We’re expanding the care we provide, and that includes some incredible exotic patients!

Meet Ghost, a tegu who recently visited Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital. Tegus are large, intelligent reptiles that require very specialized care to stay healthy.

Dr. Bajc loved seeing Ghost and his family! 🦎 Visits like these are a great time to talk through what tegus need to stay healthy, from proper nutrition to UVB lighting and the right temperature and humidity at home.

As we continue to grow, we’re excited to now see a wider range of species, including reptiles (like leopard geckos, crested geckos, and bearded dragons), small mammals aka pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats), and birds. 🐰🐦🦎
