Our new rehab patient Sandy has a life that began tragic, but is turning out to have a storybook ending!🥰 He was a stray, brought to a shelter with a severe rear leg injury that required amputation to save his life. He was adopted by loving family, but shortly afterwards ruptured the cruciate ligament in his remaining back leg. After surgery to repair the cruciate tear, he was really struggling to even walk. We readjusted his pain meds, then started swim therapy 💦…and currently he is up and mobile again! Our swim therapist Olivia has the incredible, healing touch!😌

Something fun & educational for the kiddos after school !

Did you know that the rehabilitation center offers monthly programs for children of all ages? With different themes and experiences with each visit, there is soo much to explore! Give your child an unforgettable after-school experience filled with discovery and adventure! Perfect for kids ages 6–12, the After School Club takes young learners on a journey through the fascinating world of animals and their ecosystems.

Each month features a new theme with engaging activities, creative crafts, and hands-on volunteering opportunities around the grounds. From learning about wildlife rehabilitation to exploring ways to protect the environment, your child will gain knowledge and skills while having a blast!

Program Details:
When: 2nd Wednesday of each month, starting in January
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $15 per session
Where: Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Educational Center

Heartwarming story about George. 🥹 He's a 4-month-old Great Dane puppy that presented this weekend for endoscopy to retrieve a AAA battery he gobbled up. His whole family: Mom, Dad, and kids brought him in and waited patiently until he was ready to go back home. You could just feel the love! 💖 Here's hoping he stays outta future trouble! Great job Dr. Kish and Kaycee 😇

Corn cobs, Shish kebab, & Sports bra! 🌞🥴These items were on the Summer “endoscopy menu” the past few weeks! Ziggy, Hazel, & Geo all recovered well and were home soon after their procedures. Hats off to the wonderful EVCC staff!!! 🤩

Puppies eating pennies is a recurring emergency we see! 😧Pennies minted after 1982 contain zinc, which can be toxic if the ingested pennies start to dissolve in the stomach. Luna's owner fortunately saw her ingest the coins, so we were able to remove them before any problems occurred. 🥹 Great job Dr. Dowds and Emily! We now know that Luna has no cents! 🤣

The groceries are low at Humane Indiana Wildlife, folks! Help ‘em out if you can💕

Of the animals being cared for, 190 of them are orphaned opossums!! These youngsters are being admitted in full litters (when mom is injured or killed) or as singles who have been separated from mom. Ranging from 30 grams to 400 grams, we have babies of all sizes and ages! These youngsters will remain with us until they each weigh about a pound at which time they will be returned to the wild.

Lil Dude looks really pensive & relaxed at his geriatric care visit this afternoon after enjoying an Erchonia laser photobiomodulation treatment as well as an introductory session of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (Assisi therapeutic PEMF loop). He’s 18 years “young “ 💕
