🐾 Your pet called... they think it's time for a pawdicure.

Dry, rough paws can happen from hot sidewalks, cold weather, rough terrain, or simply everyday adventures. A little TLC can go a long way in keeping those toe beans soft and comfortable.

💚 Help keep those paws adventure-ready by:
✔ Using a pet-safe paw balm
✔ Avoiding hot pavement or icy surfaces
✔ Wiping paws after walks
✔ Checking regularly for cracks or irritation

Keep those paws ready for their next big adventure! ❤️

“I don’t use tick prevention, I check my dog every day when he comes inside and he never has any!”

Did you know there are two ticks in this photo with the pen in it? 🫣 Try as we might, walking through a tick nest or being exposed to a “seed tick” is nearly unavoidable in Virginia. One of our technicians had the unfortunate experience of doing so this past weekend.

You don’t feel them, and they don’t start itching until they’re latched on and feeding. If these are on your dog, there’s a very good chance you never know about it. It would be a miracle to find one in the first place!

Things why we recommend year round prevention where we are. You never know what you’re exposing your pups to! Talk to our doctors if you have any questions about prevention 🐾

Cats naturally tend to drink less water than dogs, which makes hydration especially important for their long-term health.

Simple ways to encourage hydration:
💧 Water fountains
💧 Fresh daily water
💧 Multiple bowl locations
💧 Wet food for added moisture

Tiny hydration habits can make a big difference for cats.

We The Willow are doing two different fundraisers right now! 💸

🍋 🐴 We welcome back Dr. Marley’s daughter, Bea, who is selling lemonade and her custom painted horseshoes. Bea is raising money for her 4-H program! She is here sporadically with her Lemonade, but her horseshoes are always available in the lobby.

Pictured with Bea is our newest little buddy, Black Forest Cake the orphaned kitten!

🐈‍⬛ Forest was recently found in a local feral colony. He clearly didn’t belong, as he is among the sweetest kittens we have ever seen. We are raising money to help our technicians pay for his care. They rescue kittens out of their own pocket, and every dollar helps us afford his treatment and lower his adoption cost.

Forest is not currently available as he is awaiting neuter, vaccines, and undergoing treatment for various parasites. Stay tuned on his adoption journey! 🐾

📸🐶 Happy National Dog Photography Day!

Your camera roll:
🐾 2% actual humans
🐾 98% your dog doing absolutely nothing… and somehow still looking adorable 😹

From dramatic window staring to blurry zoomies and accidental model poses, dogs truly deserve their own photo album (and honestly, probably their own fan club too).

Introducing our Pet of the Week: Scrumpy! 🎉

Scrumpy is a very good little boy who belongs to Dr. Ballou.

I’m not sure if you’ve had the pleasure of walking in the field behind The Willow, but there’s a great sized hole in the field. The hole is actually quite deep, like several feet deep, and about 5 feet by 1 foot. It’s also filled with gross Swamp Water and frogs. 🐸

This hole has had many victims in the past, including Rottweilers, Dr. Smith’s child, Averi, the occasional clients and their pets, and most recently, Scrumpy.

We love you Scrumpy!
