Thanks to everyone for being so flexible with cancellations today!
I woke up this morning very dizzy, unable to focus and see clearly, and I couldn't walk without falling into the walls. I've never experienced vertigo before, but was pretty sure something must be going on in my inner ear. I recently took 2 weeks off swimming to let a new tattoo heal so, I figured some water just got trapped in my ears after my Saturday swim. Late last night, I could feel & hear a strange like crinkling feel/sound in my right ear, and it turns out, that was the start of this bout with BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). It was fully triggered when I got up out of bed this morning (and promptly hit the floor). It's a shift in calcium crystals in your inner ear that causes vertigo-like symptoms. Thankfully, it is temporary! I have a wonderful nurse client who recommended I take the over the counter med, meclizine for the spinning, & I found instructions for resetting my inner ear at home using the Epley maneuver. It was super easy & a lot of the spinning was gonna by the time I did it my second time. I spent most of my day on the couch or sitting still out back with the dogs, and Im happy to report I feel almost totally back to normal this afternoon! So crazy!
I just really wanted to share all this info with folks because it's apparently really common, especially for older folks, but it was really scary this morning, & I was so disoriented. Shout out to the dogs for treating me right today, and a huge thank you to my parents for helping me with the few work things that absolutely could not be canceled. I feel so lucky to work with such understanding animal guardians & have a top notch village to support
