BARC office is open M-F 10-3 for spay/neuter voucher distribution and adoptions!
127 South Camp BARC also has pets available for adoption.

BARC provides low cost spay/neuter coupons to the community to help make altering pets more affordable. All pets have received a full health screen, vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

Code red 6/12/26

A2- female, 6-8 months, 28.6lbs, very friendly girl, nervous about being out, but very sweet/happy, 4/10 on leash, doesn’t really want to walk with it, but doesn’t try to take it off, dog tested well, shy but no aggression, happy tail wags.
Notes: injured left paw (cone is to keep her from licking her wound).

A3- female, 1-2 yrs, 49.2lbs, super super friendly!, happy to be out of kennel, such a sweet dog, 6/10 on leash, knows what it’s for just needs practice, slight pulling but easy to handle, dog tested great!, happy to meet other dogs, 10/10 good girl!

A5- male, 12-14weeks, 7.4lbs, sweetest little puppy, very friendly, wants attention!
Update: safe! Rescue tag confirmed

A6-male, 1-2yrs, 49-50lbs, very people friendly, happy boy, 7/10 on leash, some pulling but not terrible, did not dog test too well, 50/50, seemed happy at first but snapped at A/B3 (female), cute smile!

A10- female, 4-5 months, 24.8lbs, super friendly girl!, so happy to be out, loves affection, not great on leash but young enough to start learning!,

A13-- no eval, couldn’t get him out 😞, growling, will bite. Available for rescue tag only.

A14- 10-12weeks, a little shy but very sweet babies!!, 10/10 love them

A16- male, 2-4 yrs, 7.8lbs, very scared!, will snap but did not bite, a warning snapper, once I pet him for a while and let him calm down, he let me carry him, still very nervous, was able to get some pics and weight, but didn’t dog test besides letting him see A5 (puppy) up close, he wagged his tail and licked him, seems like a nice doggy, just very scared, needs patience and lots of love.

C4- female, 6-8 months, 37.2 lbs, very friendly/happy!, eager to come out of the kennel, 7/10 on leash, needs some practice but she already walks pretty well!, dog tested great, playful, really good dog!,
Note: healing wounds from tight collar, mostly just scabs now.
Update: approved foster to adopt! Safe!

C5- female, 1-2yrs, 31.4lbs, super nervous, didn’t want to come out but let me carry her, very sweet even though she’s scared, we are able to pet her all over, 3/10 on leash, doesn’t know and tried to take it off, dog tested okay, nervous but not growling or showing teeth, needs work but there’s potential

C6- female, 1-2yrs, 35lbs, super nervous, didn’t want to come out but let me carry her, very sweet even though she’s scared, we are able to pet her all over, 3/10 on leash, doesn’t know and tried to take it off, dog tested okay, nervous but not growling or showing teeth, needs work but there’s potential

C3-male, 47 lbs, 2-3 yrs, nervous guy!!, once the lead was on and door open, he walked out just fine, a little hesitant but still walking, 6/10 on leash, dog tested okay, not super interested but never showed aggression either, sweet boy, he just needs some love and patience, not suitable around young kiddos due to fear. Extended from last week.

As Texas navigates NWS Screwworm in our area, our team is staying looped in.

We attended the community meeting held today, getting further information on protocols and recommendations.

As we strive hard to keep our furry friends healthy & safe, implementing & adapting new procedures for the dogs & cats coming in off the streets. 🐶🐱

C1-female, 37.4lbs, 1-2 yrs, skittish/nervous, didn’t want to walk on leash, but let me carry her, very unsure of us, never tried to bite us or anything, didn’t dog test too great, showed her teeth and growled, could just be that nervous. Will retry dog testing.

A13-male, 41lbs, 1-2 yrs, nervous when we first walked up to kennel, after some petting and baby talks, he came out of his shell, tail wagging and lots of kisses, very sweet boy!, 7/10 on leash, not bad at all, slight pulling but not bad, dog tested great, happy to meet A10, good boy!, LOVES affection

A17-female, 47.8 lbs, 1-2yrs, very shy, after petting her a few times she opened up a little, tail wags, and licked my hands, was able to walk her the kennel easily, 7/10 on leash, not scared of it, needs a little practice, dog tested great, very gentle intro, wagging her tail, very sweet and pretty girl!

C3-male, 47 lbs, 2-3 yrs, nervous guy!!, once the lead was on and door open, he walked out just fine, a little hesitant but still walking, 6/10 on leash, dog tested okay, not super interested but never showed aggression either, sweet boy, he just needs some love and patience

A1-male, 37lbs, 6-7 months, very friendly, a little nervous, runs in between your legs, but such a sweet boy, dog tested well, 5/10 on leash, isn’t scared of it, just needs to learn how to walk with it, great potential here ✨

B1-female, 31lbs, 6 months, vocal!, especially when she wants attention, very friendly, super affectionate, dog tested great, just wants someone to play with, 5/10 on leash, pulling from excitement, just needs to learn how to use it, again great potential here ✨✨

A/B2-female, 27.2lbs, 6-7 months, very timid/scared, but no fear “aggression”, never tried biting or anything, sweet girl, dog tested okay, nervous but didn’t mind A1 being near her, shows potential, but needs patience 💕

A/B4-female, 86lbs, 3-5 yrs?, big girl!, gentle giant, sweet as can be 🥹, 9/10 on leash, sits and walks well on leash, for as big as she is, she’s pretty easy to handle, dog tested great, almost looked like she wanted to play 😭😭, probably needs someone who can match her size though, as gentle as she is, she’s still clumsy, 10/10, I love her. Heartworm negative

B5-female, 41lbs, 1-2 yrs, a little nervous at the beginning, once she was outside she was completely fine, very sweet girl, 6/10 on leash, light pulling from being nervous but easy to handle, dog tested great, loves affection, was able to cuddle her 🥰🥰

A/B7-male, 58lbs, 1-2yrs, very sweet guy, eager to come out, 6/10 on leash, strong and pulls when he’s first let out of kennel, once he gets some of the energy out he calms down and pulls less, not photogenic but he’s a beautiful doggy!, kept moving, dog tested well, happy dog, enjoys affection. Owner surrender

A/B8-male, 52yrs, 1-2yrs, brother to A/B7, also very sweet and friendly, 6/10 on leash, pulling from excitement, once he calms down he’s easy to handle, doesn’t pay attention to squeaks , so had a hard time getting pics, but he’s such a pretty boy, dog tested well, didn’t mind others around him, good boy. Brother to A7. Owner surrender.

A/B14-female, 63lbs, 2-3 yrs, happy girl straight from the beginning!, 7/10 on leash, pulled quite a bit at the beginning but she also hadn’t been out so she was ✨excited✨, stronger than A18 but still pretty easy to handle, dog tested great, lots sniffing/inspecting, good girl, enjoys affection. Heartworm negative

A/B18-female, 50lbs, 8 yrs, food motivated!!, didn’t care for squeaks or weird sounds, only way I got her attention was with snacks 😂, sits for treats!!, very friendly!, 6/10 on leash, pulling from the excitement of being out, but still easy to handle, dog tested well, lots of sniffing/inspecting, tails wags, happy girl, love her head tilt 10/10. Heartworm negative

A/B6- male, neutered, 10yrs, 88lbs, very friendly, vocal when he wants attention, 9/10 on leash, definitely been on leash before, great walker, only pulled when he got excited during dog test, dog tested great, very happy to meet other boy, wanted to play, needs someone who can match his size.

C5 pups- 4-5 months, all very friendly/happy pups, nervous being carried but all did well, good dogs! Parvo survivors. Arrived with tight zip ties on their necks.

CK6- female, 1yr. Looks grumpy but is very sweet. Likes belly rubs. Needs a little extra time to warm up, but is very talkative once she does. Emaciated but eating well and starting to put weight on.

CK7- male, 3yr. Very mellow and laid back guy. Wants to be a couch potato. Has an open wound under his chin, but it’s healing well. FeLV/FIV negative

CK8- male, 1-2yr. Very nervous and unsure of people. Will allow some handling but isn’t into being pet yet. Needs a quiet place to decompress and learn to trust people.

B5- female, heeler mix, ~2yrs, 50lbs, very friendly, came right out, 6/10 on leash, has some knowledge but could use practice, slight pulling/easy to handle, dog tested okay, was unsure at first but after a few sniffs she did fine.

A8-female, border collie, 2-3 yrs, 37 lbs, very sweet and laid back girl, 7/10 on leash, wants to sniff around but doesn’t really pull, dog tested well, sniffs then does her own thing, very good girl!

A6- Female, 36lbs, 6-7 months, lab mix
A6- Female, 40lbs, 6-7 months, lab mix
A6- both very timid/scared, but still sweet, never tried biting out of fear or showed signs of aggression, let me carry them out and back in, 2/10 on leash, weren’t scared of it but did not want to walk, dog tested okay, mostly just nervous. Owner surrenders who just need a chance to thrive & learn.

A5- male, chi mix, 19.2lbs, 1-2 yrs, very timid/scared, flinches a lot, was able to pick him up and carry him out, once I held him for a while he’d calm down, but any time I’d try to put him down he’d panic and I’d have to carry him again, dog tested okay, didn’t mind A6, very nervous but no aggression, 0/10 on leash, doesn’t know what it is, still a cutie, needs lots of patience but has potential.

A13- male, retriever mix, 22lbs, 5-6 months, super friendly, 4/10 on leash, doesn’t know what it is yet but good boy!

A17- female, heeler mix, 23 lbs, 5 months, such a sweet lil girl!!, 10/10 baby.

A16-litter of 7, lab mixes, five males & two females. ~9-11wks old and 10-12lbs each.
Arrived covered in fleas & terrified, but are learning they are safe.
Tested mild parvo positive, but are doing very well with meds.

C3- male, lab, 52lbs, 1-2 years, very friendly!, happy to be out and about, 7/10 on leash, slight pulling but did well, dog tested great!, wants to play!10/10, love love him

C1- female, lab, 55lbs, 1-2 yrs, nervous coming out of kennel, once she was outside she opened up a lot, super super sweet, 5/10 on leash, would stop and lay down a few times but no crazy pulling or anything, dog tested great, very happy to meet others, gorgeous gorgeous girl

A1- female, 40 lbs, 1 yrs, very friendly!, super happy to come out of kennel, 4/10 on leash, isn’t scared of it but doesn’t really know how to walk with it, she’d laid down then dart and get pulled back, just needs to learn, dog tested well, wanted to play!, great potential, and very photogenic.

A2- female, 2-3 yrs, 47 lbs, DRAMA Queen!, she was whining well after she got her vaccine 💉, very friendly, happy to be out, 6/10 on leash, very slight pulling but easy to handle, dog tested well, sniffing and tail wags, beautiful but needs a good brush, very photogenic.

A6-male, 2-3yrs, 50 lbs, nicknamed him cookies and cream for now, very friendly, 3/10 on leash wasn’t scared but didn’t want to walk with it, had to carry him into receiving, dog tested great, very happy and also wanted to play, good boy!, very sweet smile.

A7- female, 4-5 yrs, 47 lbs, skinny girl!, very people friendly, loves affection, wanted to give kisses, 6/10 on leash, some pulling but easy to handle, dog test 50/50, she was iffy with a female, but okay with a male, otherwise sweet as can be.
Notes: skin infection, malnourished

A8- male, 1-2 yrs, 42 lbs, scruffy guy, very friendly, 7/10 on leash, pulling from excitement but very easy going, dog tested well, comes on a bit strong but once he’s up close he just sniffs and relaxes, he’s a cool guy. 😎

A9 pups-
White/black ears- female, 9lbs
Black- male, 9.5lbs,
White/black spots- female, 11lbs,
All super friendly babies, 10/10 cute floofs

A9 mom- female, 2yrs, 36 lbs, very timid/scared, had to carry her out, once she was out she didn’t really want to walk much, just sat down, 3/10 on leash, wasn’t scared of it, but again didn’t walk with it, dog tested okay, nervous and didn’t interact but never aggressive, very sweet momma, wanted affection, love her.

A10- female, 4.4 lbs, 6-7 wks, timid but very sweet little baby
