In today's performance horse industry, a great pedigree alone is no longer enough. Buyers are looking beyond bloodlines and conformation. They are asking one important question before they ever schedule a pre-purchase exam or load a horse in the trailer.

"๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ข๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ?"

Whether you are a breeder, stallion owner, mare owner, or planning to market a foal, understanding incentive program nominations can dramatically impact a horse's value, earning potential, and overall marketability.

The difference between a nominated and non-nominated foal can represent tens of thousands of dollars in future earnings. In many cases, it can also determine whether a buyer even considers your horse.

Taylor Sheridan's Vision Continues to Transform the Western Industry as The Run For A Million Reaches Primetime on CBS

One of the most significant moments in the history of Western performance horse sports is about to unfold.

For the reining industry, this is much more than a television broadcast. It is another major step toward introducing one of the world's most athletic equestrian sports to millions of viewers who may have never attended a horse show, watched a reining competition, or experienced the partnership between horse and rider that defines the sport.

Since creating The Run For A Million in 2019, Taylor Sheridan has fundamentally changed the trajectory of Western performance horse sports. Already recognized around the world for creating Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, and The Last Cowboy, Sheridan has reignited interest in the Western lifestyle while creating opportunities for the horse industry that simply did not exist a decade ago.

His storytelling has inspired millions of people to reconnect with ranching, horsemanship, and Western traditions. At the same time, The Run For A Million has elevated reining into a premier spectator event, giving elite horses, riders, breeders, owners, and trainers a stage unlike anything the sport had previously experienced.

Now, with a national primetime broadcast on CBS, that vision reaches its largest audience yet.

CBS remains one of America's most-watched television networks, with primetime programming regularly reaching millions of viewers every week. A national broadcast places The Run For A Million in front of an audience many times larger than even the biggest live events in the equine industry.

This exposure represents an incredible opportunity for Western performance horse sports.

For generations, disciplines like reining have largely been supported by equine businesses, agricultural companies, and dedicated horse enthusiasts. National television changes that conversation.

When millions of viewers are introduced to the speed, precision, athleticism, and incredible partnership between horse and rider, the potential expands far beyond the arena.

Greater visibility creates opportunities to attract new fans, inspire future competitors, increase attendance at events, strengthen youth participation, and introduce entirely new audiences to the Western way of life.

Just as importantly, national exposure creates opportunities to attract brands that may have never considered investing in the equine industry.

Automotive manufacturers, financial institutions, apparel companies, technology brands, consumer products, health and wellness companies, and countless national advertisers often invest where audiences exist. As Western sports continue reaching mainstream viewers, the opportunity grows for increased corporate investment throughout the industry.

These investments have the potential to strengthen every level of Western performance horse sports by supporting larger purses, expanded events, increased sponsorship opportunities, enhanced youth programs, and greater value for breeders, owners, trainers, riders, and equine businesses.

While television alone doesn't guarantee those outcomes, it creates the kind of exposure that helps make them possible.

When Sheridan launched The Run For A Million in 2019, he wasn't simply creating another horse show.

He envisioned an event that celebrated elite horsemanship while presenting Western performance horse sports with the production quality, prestige, and excitement found in major professional sporting events.

Seven years later, that vision has become reality.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Ivermectin Liquid for Horses to provide short-term prevention of New World screwworm (NWS) infestations in horses. The authorization allows the product to be administered within 24 hours of birth or during initial wound care to help protect horses from this devastating pest. This action supports ongoing efforts to safeguard American agriculture and animal health as officials work to prevent the spread of New World screwworm. The authorized product is for use in horses only and is not approved for use in other species.

And this is 'Patriotess' aka Tessa or Tess. She is a dream come true for me! Daniel Hoerauf, Chrystal Garrett Mehl and I bred her in partnership (Let it Slide Partners). Her dam is Lily Gun owned by NOVA Reiners. Since I watched her sire, Patriot, in the futurity a few years ago, I wanted nothing more than to have a baby by him, AND I wanted a filly. My dream came true, and so I bought her out of the partnership.

Meet Bonnie. She was born earlier this month, sired by Downright Amazing and owned by Daniel Hoerauf and Chrystal Garrett Mehl. We bred her together in partnership, but Dan loves her and so they will raise and show her.
For those of you who have not met Sparky, she is blind in one eye. She has been since she was a baby. Despite this, she was a great show horse earning around $9000. And what a great mom she is!
