Recently I’ve been getting a lot of messages from people who want to become breeders and I don’t think people actually know the reality that comes along with it, so let me tell you a bit about my last 48 hours..

One of our queens went into labor late Saturday night, she started having kittens Sunday, and by Sunday evening you could see the exhaustion in this poor mama.
I noticed she stopped producing kittens, and she was helpless.
Yesterday morning, we started her on Oxytocin in hopes to induce her labor again as she still had 2 babies remaining, it worked, but not for long. She birthed a beautiful still born little girl, and then labor stopped again. My biggest fear had come true.
She was exhausted, she was in pain, and she was done.

We quickly realized it was time for a C-section if we had any chance of saving her baby and relieving her.
So that’s what we did, she had a 45 minute long, anxiety filled C-section/spay, and we are thankful to have a breathing baby (pictured below.) This was best case scenario.

Going into last night, mom had a rough night. We also had a beautiful little boy develop fading kitten syndrome and pass over night.
While checking on mama, her brand new little girl, and the other babies, I’m also a mom to a feral toddler, a wife, and someone who works in the veterinary field Mon-Fri.

And this is one of the several complications that could happen.
Breeding IS NOT easy. It should be carefully considered and researched.

Please take time to think about our mama and her babies as we try to get through this difficult time.
