⚠️⚠️ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!!⚠️⚠️

🐍 BABY COPPERHEADS: NOW THROUGH NOVEMBER! 🐍

📸 This photo was shared by an Animal Control Officer reminding us it’s baby copperhead season.

👉 As the officer said:
🌧️ Copperheads love damp areas → watch around toys 🧸, dog bowls 🐾, flower pots 🌸, etc.
👟 Always wear closed shoes in the grass to avoid stepping on one.
🟡 Baby copperheads have a yellow/green tail tip — a key way to identify them!

📍 Where are they found?
Copperheads live across the central & eastern U.S., from Florida 🌴 and the East Coast 🌊 to New England 🍁, and west to Nebraska 🌽, Kansas 🌾, and Texas 🤠. They prefer forests 🌲, rocky areas 🪨, and damp habitats — but can also show up in suburbs and cities.

I don't think I've introduced our danger noodles yet. The one on the left(white and black) is Lucius who we've had for 2 years and he is a ball python. On the right is Indica who we've had just a few months and she is a corn snake. They are both great snakes. My 18mo daughter loves petting Lucius when we have him out.

❗️❗️❗️Baby Copperhead season❗️❗️❗️

Copperhead season in Missouri is typically from April through November, with baby copperheads being born from August through early October. Copperheads are Missouri's most common venomous snake and can be found throughout the state, except for the northern border with Iowa. They prefer to live in rocky hillsides, along forest edges, and near wooded streams, old fields, and meadows. Copperheads are most active in the late afternoon and evening, and they like to be out on warm, humid nights after rain.

So be careful and seek immediate medical attention if bitten!
