Meet Bucky! 🐾🩵
This handsome 4-year-old Doberman recently came to us for an abdominal exploratory surgery, after developing a problem that required a closer look. 👀 😷
During surgery, we discovered that Bucky had cloth and tape material inside his intestine extending the length of a large portion, as what we call a ‘linear foreign body’. This was a great reminder that our curious pups can get themselves into some pretty unusual things! 🫣
To safely remove the foreign material, Bucky needed an enterotomy (an incision into the intestine) as well as a resection and anastomosis, where the affected portion of intestine is removed and the healthy ends are carefully reconnected.
Thankfully, Bucky recovered in no time! 💙
His case is an important reminder that intestinal foreign bodies can become life-threatening emergencies, and prompt veterinary attention can make all the difference.🐶💙
We are so glad you are feeling better, Bucky! 🐾
