Happy 9th Birthday to our first litter, the "A" puppies: Amelia and her littermates, Alice, Alfonse/Peanut, Antoinette/Izzy, Archibald/Duke, Arthur/Zack, Athena/Remi and on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge: Apro and Arnold/Matyi!

We spent a wonderful weekend in the beautiful Kaibab National Forest (no internet, no cell phone coverage, 31F during the night) doing a hunt test with Merész (Somlóhegyi Artemisz). She earned her last, 4th qualifying score for her Junior Hunter title! Thank you to the judges, gunners, bird planters and the Valley of the Sun Weimaraner Club and the Northern Arizona German Shorthaired Pointer Club for the well organized and smoothly run test!

The summary of our fun filled week at the 2026 Vizsla National in Temecula, CA:
Bátor (GCH CH Tappancs Bator BN RA ACT 1 CGC ATT FTI) finished his CD title and placed 1st out of 11 competitors in the obedience ring! He also got two Q-s (and 2nd and 3rd place) in agility (standard and FAST) and a Q in rally.

Merész (Somlóhegyi Artemisz RI SIN CGC FTI) was very successful in scentwork! She finished her Novice Buried and Novice Exterior titles and got Q-s in every element she was entered. She placed 1st in Exterior, 2nd in HD, 3rd in Containers and 4th in Buried. She also earned her first Q in Advanced Interior. In addition to the scentwork, she also got a Q in Rally.

Last weekend Kajla (Pitypang Ilka) and Amelia (Tappancs Amelia) went to Casa Grande, to hunt for rats! The April Fool's Day trial was organized by the Barn Hunt Casa Grande and everyone had a great time! Amelia earned her Novice (RATN) title, the first Q for her Open title and 2 second places. Kajla had 2 Open Q-s, both 1st place. and one of them was so fast that she earned a special recognition, High in Class!

This weekend we played sniffy games at the Sonoran Desert Scentwork Club's trial. It was really, really hot, 105 F in the afternoon when the trial was finished. And I made probably not the smartest decision to enter 3 dogs in the trial, which made the afternoon runs a bit hectic. But we managed it and the girls did great!
- Merész (Somlóhegyi Artemisz) had 4 Novice qualifying runs, one in Exterior, one in Buried (and 3rd place) and 2 in Interior. She also earned her Novice Interior level title.
- Amelia (Tappancs Amelia) had 4 Advanced qualifying runs, 1 in Buried, 1 in Container (and 4th place) and 2 in Interiors. She also earned her Advanced Interior level title
- Kajla (Pitypang Ilka) also had 4 qualifying runs at the Excellent level, 1 in Container, 1 in Buried and 2 in Interior. With these 2 interior Q-s she earned her Excellent Interior level title.

We had a mixed dog sport weekend: Kajla and Amelia did nosework, and Bator did AKC agility. On Friday, Bator earned his very first AKC agility qualifying run in Novice FAST (Fifteen and Send Time). He was over time by two seconds, but he collected 73 points instead of the required 50 points, so he qualified with 71 points. On Saturday, Kajla (handled by George Angeli) and Amelia (handled by me) went to the NACSW sanctioned ORT (Odor Recognition Test). During ORT, the dogs (and handlers) should correctly find 3 odors (birch, anise, and clove) that are hidden in boxes. Kajla missed birch, but found anise and clove, Amelia found birch and anise, but missed the last odor, clove.

(The video below is when they were 3 weeks old)

Another weekend - another agility trial. This weekend we went to a CPE agility trial, run by Desert Dawg Sports . It was really hot, in the 90s all three days. In spite of the heat, Bator did very well ( I had a cooling vest on him to keep him comfortable). He had 5 qualifying runs, 4 in Level 3 (Standard, Colors, Jackpot and Jumpers) and 1 in Level 2 (Snookers). He's got four 1st place and one 2nd place and new titles in Level 2 Snookers and Level 3 Colors! Thank you to all the volunteers and Judge Mike Brownell for the well run trial. Also, a big thank you goes to Szilvi Culbertson who woke up before sunrise to get Bator ready for the trial!

The first agility weekend is now behind us. It was exactly a year ago when I entered Bator for the Saguaro Scramblers' NADAC agility trial at the Intro level. Now, after 12 months of training (thank you Journey Agility LLC and Ffluffy Nicholas) I took a deep breath and entered him at a higher, Novice level. During that year he improved a lot, he didn't make his own course and he was listening to me. I made quite a few handler errors (forgot what is the next obstacle in the middle of the run, called him too early, etc) but he still qualified in Chances and Jumpers!
