Anybody know of a rescue taking cats in in the Mooresville/Huntersville area of NC? Asking for a friend who found one and would take it home but she has older dogs that are not cat friendly.

Another Thanksgiving down and the cats are all passed out from their turkey. Well, all except Sasha (who doesn't come out on anyones terms but hers) and Sophie (who surprisingly wanted nothing to do with it). Even Abbie, who NEVER eats people food, ate everything that was put in front of her. Now the house looks like a "cat bomb" went off. LOL

Things are moving along well with Sophie. Much less growling/hissing this past week, even though Grayson and Sirius still give her grief. She's doing much better with letting others get closer, and she's spending less and less time in Sasha's room, and more time everywhere else. I have a suspicion her and Pepper are going to end up getting along just fine

So, Sophie has been out exploring the house for the past 2 weeks. Most of the older cats respect the boundaries and leave her alone, but Morrigan, her kittens, and Yuna, tend to follow her around a little closer than she'd like. Sophie does let most of the cats get within a foot or two (depending on who it is) before she gives the "meow of displeasure". She spends a lot of time exploring, looking for hidey holes she can dash into if Grayson gives her grief. She does like watching everyone from under the recliner (since it's back in its usual spot), and she does sit on the entertainment center to watch tv. She's getting there!

So this little goober (Checkers) suffers from stress induced stomach issues, so he gets prescription wet food when it effects him. He's currently having a round of issues due to my shoulder (not normal causing stress) and the new addition of Sophie (not as bad, since they seem to get along, but there is still some unhappiness). This is his way of telling me it's getting close to his food time...

Introductions with Sophie are going about as well as expected. Still a lot of growling and hissing, but she's been out exploring the house. The younger cats follow her around, which spooks her a little, but she IS improving. Loki and some of the older ones have taken to lounging in "Sasha's Room" with her, and pretty much know the boundaries. She is very vocal, and does love attention. Keeping the "Rule of 3" in mind, she is right on track.

Going by this picture, you'd never guess that Yuna is 4 months older than Grayson. Yuna is TINY!

After a few days with the gates down, Sophie has begun wandering. She's still getting used to her new feline family, but there is significantly less hissing and growling. She has completely explored my sons room across the hall, and has even ventured out into the main room where the two "cat couches" and our computer is. She comes out long enough to explore a little, then makes her way back to "Sasha's Room" to eat and watch the others.

So, I had planned to take the gates to "Sasha's Room" down one at a time, so Sophie and the rest could get used to each other. Dottie decided she wanted to be friends with Sophie last week, and figured out how to climb 6 feet up the gates to spend time in the room. Last night I took the center section out, to make things easier, and because Sophie has been spending more time at the door watching the others. Things went pretty good. Boundaries were respected. So I figured I'd be taking the bottom section out some time this weekend. Sophie had other plans. Cat Man Jr. (my son, and the guy that removed her from the car 5 weeks ago) was surprised to see her in HIS doorway, checking things out. All gates came down about half an hour ago. So far, so good...

Apparently it's Evita's turn for cuddles...
