In honor of Mother’s Day…this is Mama Kildeer. Hidden beneath her are 3 adorable little baby Kildeer. Mama gathered them up and hid them for safekeeping when the big, scary monster (me🤣) got a bit too close. Kildeer will actually act injured to entice predators away from their nests and babies. I guess that’s one way to keep your kiddos in line…just sit on them!

Everything is a mess thanks to “The Ice Storm That Wasn’t” and “Snowmageddon ‘26”. But in addition to the inconveniences, the horses have another problem to deal with: ice platform shoes. Our shod horses collect packed snow into their hooves. It is dangerous and extremely uncomfortable for them. The unshod ones generally can pop the packed mess out by walking, but the ones with shoes keep packing it in. Nightly turn in now consists of hoof picking until it all melts. Only plus is beautiful clean feet when it comes out.

Horses fed/out, troughs broken up, making feed in my heated feed room then TAGGING OUT! I’ll come back when it’s a balmy 30*.
