Moses has accepted a new position as Farm Cat Security. 🐈‍⬛🛡️

Over the last several months, we’ve trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, relocated (slowly), and released six feral cats back onto our property. We weren’t sure if they’d stick around, but we’re happy to report that all six have decided this is home.

And nobody is more excited about it than Moses. He LOVES cats. The pay isn’t great and they actually HATE their self-appointed security guard… but he takes his responsibilities very seriously.

Puppy Class this week focused on weird objects and sounds! 🚙🧹🏍️

We brought out strollers, wagons, vacuums, leaf blowers, hair dryers, mops, brooms, and more — all normal parts of our world that can feel very strange to a puppy. Socialization is so much more than meeting people and dogs. It’s learning how to safely navigate everyday life.

The second half of class focused on leash engagement and teaching puppies to regularly check in with their handler on walks.

We ended with structured puppy play, making sure puppies were matching energy well, respecting boundaries, taking breaks when needed, and building confidence appropriately. We also brought out a calm adult dog for the puppies to explore. Be picky about the dogs your puppy meets — safe adult dogs matter!

Quick shoutout to the dog wash station at the Trenton car wash — we love it. 👏

Everything is built right into the nozzle (shampoo, conditioner, deodorizer) and the double tie-backs make it such an easy, hands-free wash. Perfect for quick cleanups before a busy weekend or trip when you just need the dogs freshened up. This is also a great place to practice in between professional grooming sessions for those pups that struggle with grooming.

That said… I’m also looking for recommendations for a great groomer in the area for professional grooming once or twice a year.

Moses, my black shepherd, is the tricky one. He loves people, but does not do well waiting in conventional crates and is dog reactive/selective in his past. A groomer with flexible scheduling, quick turnaround, or the ability for me to bring his crate would be ideal.

Nose work day for our puppy class!

One of our favorite puppy class activities… letting puppies use their nose and figure things out on their own.

Today was all about:
✨ Confidence building
✨ Exploring new objects and surfaces
✨ Trying new things
✨ Learning to work through challenges
✨ Using their brain in a healthy way

Dogs experience the world through their nose first. Sniffing helps them take in information, process their environment, and build confidence in unfamiliar situations.

That’s why we start these kinds of exercises young. Puppies who are encouraged to explore, problem solve, and investigate new things tend to grow into more resilient, adaptable adult dogs.

And the best part? The puppies think it’s just a fun game.

Watching them climb, sniff, wobble, investigate, and celebrate little wins is one of the best parts of puppy class.
