🚨 If you have cats, STOP scrolling for 30 seconds. This could save their life. 🚨

Panleukopenia (feline parvo) is everywhere right now.

Not just in one shelter.
Not just in one rescue.
Not just in one county.

Rescuers across South Carolina are watching litter after litter become critically ill, and in some cases, disappear in a matter of days.

Most people have never even heard of panleukopenia…

Until it kills their kitten.

💔 It doesn’t care if the kitten was rescued yesterday.
💔 It doesn’t care if you “only held it for a minute.”
💔 It doesn’t care how much you love them.

This virus is one of the deadliest diseases we see in kittens.

It spreads incredibly easily.

You can unknowingly carry it home on your shoes.
On your clothes.
On your hands.
On a cat carrier.
On a litter scoop.

A kitten can appear perfectly healthy… and still be incubating the virus.

Then suddenly…

They stop eating.

They become quiet.

They vomit.

They develop diarrhea.

And within 24–48 hours, they can be fighting for their life.

We’ve watched people spend sleepless nights syringe feeding, giving fluids, rushing to emergency vets, praying for one more morning.

Some kittens make it.

Far too many don’t.

Here’s what every cat owner should know:

🐾 Vaccinate your cats and kittens.
🐾 Keep new cats separated from your own for at least two weeks.
🐾 Never assume a “healthy-looking” stray is disease-free.
🐾 If a kitten suddenly stops eating or becomes lethargic, don’t “wait until tomorrow.” Get veterinary care immediately.

If you rescue, foster, feed community cats, transport animals, or simply love cats…

Biosecurity matters.

Every decision you make could protect—or expose—dozens of cats.

This isn’t about creating fear.

It’s about creating awareness.

Because awareness saves lives.

If this post prevents even one litter from going through what so many fosters have experienced this year, it’s worth sharing.

❤️ Please help us spread the word.

Talk to your friends.
Encourage vaccinations.
Quarantine new arrivals.

Together, we can save more kittens than any rescue can save alone.

🐈‍⬛ Every share could reach someone who needs this information before it’s too late.
