In our final , we celebrate Erna's birthday. West Place's first rescue passed away last September at a remarkable 17 1/2 years old!

West Place has lost its oldest alpaca 💔

Shady was 19 years old, and for more than a decade he was a loyal companion, a brave protector, and an inquisitive and friendly member of our farm family. Prior to joining West Place, Shady was a working alpaca who protected the females in his herd. When he was retired with nowhere to go, West Place welcomed him in 2013. He dutifully protected our rescue herd and was allowed to grow old at our sanctuary surrounded by loving friends.

Shady will be greatly missed, and his memory will always live on at West Place. 🦙
