Hello CPH community!!! We are super
Excited to welcome our new medical director. She has worked many days of relief with us so you may seen her before but we couldn’t be happier to have her on full time with us now! Her is a little bit about her!!

Dr. Cindy Lopez is first-generation Mexican American, bilingual in both English and Spanish, and originally from Los Angeles, California. She completed her undergraduate degree in California and earned her veterinary degree from the Royal Veterinary College in London, England. After veterinary school, she returned to California where she worked as a new graduate in a small animal general private practice for two years. She then went on to start her own relief veterinary business where she provided relief veterinarian coverage to many hospitals in need of temporary, high-quality veterinary care. After two and a half years of practicing as a relief veterinarian, she finally found a hospital she felt most comfortable and appreciated in and has pursued the role as Medical Director at Community Pet Hospital. Dr. Lopez values all aspects of general practice and endeavors to develop trusting relationships for the overall health of the human-animal bond.

During her time out of work, Dr. Lopez enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring the outdoors, and adventures traveling and discovering new sights. She owns a Bengal cat and a bearded dragon and expects to become a mother to a baby girl in 2026.

Renal disease is a condition that occurs commonly in dogs and cats. It refers to the process where the kidneys or urinary system components have become compromised or have difficulty functioning at their full capacity. However, most commonly it’s the kidneys that become affected. Renal failure can progress quickly and be life threatening if left undiagnosed or untreated.

This is where the importance of lab work comes in: by monitoring renal levels on blood and urine testing, veterinary professionals can identify kidney changes faster, which can lead to early intervention.

Renal disease is irreversible, but treatment options exist that can help pets with this condition live longer, healthier lives. If your senior pet is past due for a screening, book a visit today.
