🚨Please Read and share – New Scam Tactic in Cat Groups 🚨
I want to bring your attention to something I’m seeing more and more often lately.
Scammers are now creating entire fake Facebook groups, and they are getting very convincing.
Here’s how it works:
They set up a group that looks active and legitimate.
They add multiple “admins” and “moderators”, but all of them are fake profiles.
Then they go a step further:
They create fake contributors who constantly post
You’ll see lots of “questions,” updates, and engagement
It makes the group look busy and real
But if you look closer, things don’t add up:
Profiles are often very new or locked
Profile photos don’t match across their accounts
The same people are constantly posting about “we are getting a new kitten”, but somehow "got a new kitten" dozens of different times over a short time. Those pictures are stolen. They are from us! They are not their's.
Their stories don’t make sense when you really look
👉 This is all done to build trust and make buyers feel safe.⚠️
Please be careful, especially if you’re looking for a “good deal.” Most of them are not good, because they are fake.
I understand, everyone wants an affordable kitten.
But here’s the reality:
A well-bred Sphynx, Bambino, Elf, etc. cannot be cheap if it’s coming from a responsible cattery.
Why? Because responsible breeders:
Invest thousands into their breeding cats
Do health testing (like HCM scans, DNA, etc.)
Provide vet care, vaccines, deworming
Microchip kittens
Spay/neuter before going home (pet homes)
Carefully manage breeding programs
👉 This all costs money. There’s no way around it.
🚩 Major red flags to watch for:
Kittens sold not spayed/neutered
Prices that are way below normal
No verifiable vet records
No willingness to do a live video call
Brand new groups or pages
Admins with suspicious or inactive profiles
✅ What you SHOULD do:
Ask for a live video call with the kitten
Check how old the group/page is
Look at admin activity in other groups
Ask for vet info and verify with the clinic
Take your time, don’t rush into sending money
💬 From a breeder perspective:
No reputable breeder will support or sell breeding cats to catteries that don’t follow ethical practices.
For example, I personally require kittens to be spayed/neutered before going home, and I stand by that.
❤️ Please stay safe and protect yourselves!
