Let’s start with the most important!
*The best way to keep your dog cool is to maintain a well brushed out coat!
No matter the breed.
Double coated dogs like Goldens, Huskies, Bernese Mountain Dogs etc..even Labs and some Doodles..or any mix thereof
THEY NEED TO BE BRUSHED OUT!
Their skin needs to breathe!
Their coats protect them from the heat!
A fully brushed coat is the best way to keep them cool.

Then you have your continuous growth coats!
Doodles, Shih Tzus, Poodles, Maltese etc..some Terriers and sporting Spaniels..
THEY NEED REGULAR MAINTENANCE!
Their coats need to be free of thick mats!
Their skin needs to breathe!
Their coats also protect them from heat and sun.
Regular trimming and brushing can keep them comfy and cool.

All types of coats can benefit from a variety of trims and styles that can help with maintenance and comfort.

🌷Spring has sprung and though some showers have brought muddy paws we welcome the rain/snow..we’ll gladly take whatever we can get!!!
But rain or shine we have had a busy start to the season!
We’ve had puppies and old pros. Howlers, first haircuts, fancy dos, hose em downs, sweet seniors, little spitfires and gentle giants!!!
It won’t be long until the summer settles in. Make sure your pup is ready!

There’s something about the March bandanas that make me happy! 🍀
Maybe because I’m of Irish decent from Boston MA?

In my beloved little shop.. there is often fur flying and happy pups expressing their excitement. It can get loud, a little gross at times, definitely wet and a bit wild..but always fun and always adorable.
It’s a clean, professional, positive space with good energy, patience and lots of love and respect for our furry friends. ❤️🐾

We’re looking for someone who would like to join the fun!!
Someone who also loves and most importantly respects dogs. Someone patient and kind who’s not afraid to get physical and a bit soggy.
Someone willing to learn not only how to properly brush and bathe dogs but all the important aspects of handling and training and understanding dog behavior.

The part time grooming assistant position is available for that special dog lover 2-3 flexible mornings a week with more hours available for anyone interested in
learning/doing more!
We are a small but busy shop absolutely focused on quality over quantity. Though we do have loads fun we take our responsibilities very seriously.

I started my 30 year career in this position and loved every day and still do! Every day and every dog is different and there is always something new to learn.
I have gleefully worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and demeanor, have always led with positive reinforcement training techniques and have enjoyed great success building trusting and respectful relationships with my clients. (Both human and canine)

It usually takes just a few minutes, and our particular process is positive, gentle and has a great success rate.

🐾 We offer gland expressing. $20
Nobody wants to do this at home… Nobody.

🐾 We offer ear, flushing and cleaning. Price depending on condition. $5-$20
I can also offer my experienced opinion if your dog might need to see the vet or can be treated at home. There are many options for natural solutions to ear issues😉

🐾I also offer positive reinforcement behavior training and natural nutrition and health consultation!

I honestly don’t know how we get anything done around here!!!
Fergus is here for his very first grooming today! WE LOVE PUPPIES!!🖤🐾
Just a reminder to those brave souls who dare to enter the world of puppydom in the midst of winter…or any time!🤪
We recommend bringing your pup in as soon as they completely finish their full round of puppy shots!
It’s so important to start them early to learn the process, build a trust with their caring groomer and have a positive, short and sweet, first experience. Not only for the dogs that require a lifetime of haircuts and maintenance, but also those dogs that will require full brush outs, baths, and nail trims for their lifetime.
I personally have specialized in the careful handling of puppies and senior dogs for 30 years. Though all the dogs in our care are special to us, the specific care of the very young and very old is close to my heart.❤️
So whether your dog is 4 months or 4 years or 10 years old, if they haven’t come to visit us yet please consider giving us a call.

Even as the Winter arrived without its accompanying cold..YET…
I just wanted to check in with a couple of important reminders regarding the cold weather and the health and comfort of your pups!
🐾First.. I always have all natural, lickable and effective Paw Balm on hand to protect those sweet beans in this harsh cold and ice.
Also nail trimming to prevent cracking, breaking and discomfort!!

🐾🐾Second and *most importantly whether your dog has a double coat eg. Corgi, Aussie, husky etc or a mix of any type..OR a continuous growth coat like the ever popular Doodle, poodle, Shih tzu or any mix there of,,
It is vitally important to keep up with grooming even and especially in these cold seasons.
🐾For the double coats..matted or thickly packed undercoat does NOT work properly keeping pets warm and protected from elements. It actually does the exact opposite, trapping skin and pulling warmth and needed moisture.
Only regular and thorough brushing and blowing of coat will promote healthy skin and effective heat retention. Not to mention the longer you wait the more time and subsequently money it will take to get a healthy coat back!!!

🐾For the Doodles, poodles etc!!
This is a big one‼️
If you wait longer between grooming because it’s cold, your dogs fur will get matted! Without question or exception. Especially in snow and even if you’re brushing at home. Every day.
It’s important to get them in regularly for full brush outs, baths and trims especially if you’d like to keep a soft, fluffy amount of coat.
We too often need to shave pups down to nothing, mid winter to get rid of uncomfortable, painful matting that is damaging skin and preventing protection from the cold. Nobody wants this. Not you, not me, not Katie and definitely not your pup‼️
It’s always a bummer🖤
