First and foremost - if I owe you a pedigree, please message me ASAP with the rabbit’s tattoo # and your email! I sent most of them while we were in Reno, but I’m sure I missed a few here and there ❤️
Can I just say… I LOVE the rabbit community. Y’all are awesome.
I had SO much fun in Reno hanging out with friends, both new and old. This community is quite literally a family, and I am so incredibly blessed to be a part of it.
I love the challenge of Convention — seeing how the best of my barn competes on a national scale, getting advice on my project lines from other breeders, talking rabbits for days on end, learning, laughing, second-guessing everything, getting excited all over again, and coming home with a million new thoughts and ideas.
But honestly, as much as I love the competition, the ribbons, and the rabbits themselves… the people are what make Convention what it is.
It’s the friends you only get to see a couple times a year but somehow pick right back up with like no time has passed. The people who will stand around a coop and talk rabbits with you for an hour. The ones who celebrate your wins, help you laugh off the losses, give you an honest opinion when you ask for one, and genuinely want to see you succeed.
Somewhere along the way, this stopped being “just a rabbit hobby” and became this huge, weird, wonderful little family scattered all over the country. And I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully explain how much that means to me ❤️
That being said… as much as I love every second of it, I am VERY glad to be home and ready to just chill for a few weeks 😂
I also came home with so much hope for the tort project.
I would absolutely love to see torts around the country hitting the tables over the next few years, and I plan to continue sending out tort carriers whenever possible to people who truly want to support the variety and COD effort. One of the coolest parts of this project is knowing that it isn’t something that has to live only in my barn.
This COD will only go as far as the best rabbits we can put on the table, and I truly believe that with the help of breeders around the country who are willing to work on this project, we can present a really strong depth of quality in this variety.
Someday, I hope I can look around and see pieces of all the people who believed in this project early on - the people who shared their knowledge, offered honest critiques, bred something better than what they started with, and helped push this variety forward.
That thought makes me a little emotional, because projects like this should never really be built by one person. They’re built through years of tiny decisions, shared genetics, friendships, failures, wins, and people willing to believe that something is worth working toward before anyone knows how it’s going to turn out.
So thank you. Truly.
The rabbits brought us together, but the people are the reason I keep falling more in love with this community every year.
Miss y’all already 🖤🐇
