Hi there!
I'm Kara, the owner and groomer of Kara Scissorhands Professional Pet Grooming Salon, located in North Grosvenordale CT
I have been grooming for over 25 years.
I learned to groom when I worked for an AKC show judge.
I learned how to groom many breeds and handle many types of dogs as well as cats
I show and breed my own purebred dogs and I am a breeder/handler/owner of Champion Mastiffs and German Shepherd Dogs.
I have extensive knowledge in training all types of breeds
I house a kennel of show dogs which I feed a raw diet based on Prey Model Raw. I have extensive knowledge in canine nutrition.
As a breeder of well bred dogs, I have reared many pups to adulthood. I have extensive knowledge in genetics and health and have worked along side my vet team for many years in the care of my dogs and puppies.
I have a custom built salon on my property with all professional, safe, grooming equipment and products.
What you get from me when you bring your pet for grooming, is a professional who knows health, behavior and hygiene. Your pet will be in the best care in a safe, quiet environment.
Groomings are booked by appointment only.

Hey there! If you are not a steady client on a 6 to 8 week schedule and have a more time consuming dog for grooming. I may not be able to fit your dog right in when you need him or her to be groomed.
Like many professional groomers, I have a tight schedule.
I also have a lot of large fluffy dog clients.
If you have a small dog or cat I am more able to find a spot to squeeze in.
It is also summer time and I myself have vacation time planned. And off to the dog shows on the weekends!
Sorry if I can't accommodate you right away!
I try to find spots for people's pets within a week or two. But if that appointment isn't going to work for you then I'm sorry but it may be a wait.
If you have to find another groomer then so be it!
You have to book ahead with me and try to stay on the schedule especially if you have a dog that is time consuming (large, or lots of fur)

Hey there everyone!
Over the many years I have been grooming, I have done a considerable amount of very matted cats!
Many groomers will refer those cats to a veterinarian.
Many veterinarians do not want to have to anesthetize a cat just to shave their matted fur off. It's a risk!
I will be offering private appointments for extremely matted cats.
It's not cheap. But it's also not $500 like it would be to have your cat put under anesthesia.
If you have a very matted cat and the cat is relatively friendly.

Dear clients, for those of you who do not reschedule ahead.
I am finding it very difficult to just fit your dog in on a whim.
We are in an extremely busy time of the year
I also have vacation time planned throughout the nice weather as many of you also do I'm sure.
Most of my clientele are steady 5 to 6 week appointments who rebook the next appointment before they leave their present appointment.
Please try to book ahead..
If not there will be at least a 2 week wait to get in

Hey guys, in the last couple weeks I've had several clients forget their appointments. All big project large dogs that require 2 to 4 hours of my morning schedule. I only take a few dogs per day so when this happens it's just about my whole income for that day.
I then have to try to fit them into my schedule on another day which is usually already booked so I'm finding myself working on my days that I am off from the grooming shop.
I have a kennel with show dogs that require a ton of work.
So my days off from the shop are to work my other business.
It's putting me way behind on other things such as my own personal "house" stuff. And I then have no personal time to myself either.
Please try to set a reminder on your calendar.
Big dogs are not easy to squeeze in on another grooming day.
This is a problem on other salons hence why many groomers will not accommodate large dogs anymore.

I am not open Thursdays through Sundays.
I work my other job these days with my show dogs and kennel.
If you message me for an appointment I will get back to you as soon as possible or on Mondays when I'm back in the shop.
