**Please note this change in policy**

One of our favorite things is seeing someone’s eyes light up when they hold a reptile for the first time and realize how awesome they are! We are thrilled to be able to share that with you. But with the increase in popularity and the demand of our time we are unfortunately needing to place a fee on “the experience”

*What does that mean?
For anyone wanting to come to the zoo for a full reptile experience of handling/holding a reptile(s), there will now be a $10 charge per person regardless of age.

*What if I just want to look?
No problem! You can still look all you want in the zoo for free, there is still no admission cost. But you may not see all of the animals as many of them nap during the day. Please do Not open any enclosures or tubs as not all of them are easy to close and we’ve had a few escapees due to this.

*Do I have to pay to hold an animal for sale?
No, although many pet stores don’t let you do that anymore, we believe in interacting with a potential pet to get to know it. If you are genuinely interested in purchasing an animal you are welcome to handle it beforehand.

Northern Tropics will be doing the Northwest Regional Library tour again this year where we do a reptile presentation to 10 different libraries. Here’s our schedule for the following public libraries:

Tuesday, June 2nd
Red Lake Falls, MN at 1:30pm

Karlstad, MN at 1:30pm
Grygla, MN at 4:30pm

Thursday, June 4th
Hallock, MN at 10:30am

We have new baby button quail available!

We recently bought some button quail at an exotic pet expo. So cute! For those not familiar, they are a small quail where the adults are about the size of a chicken chick so their babies are tiny and so adorable!
Many use their eggs for reptile food or adding to their dog food. (Our tegu Blue and skink Derby can only eat so many)
Does anyone have any interest in any eggs or chicks to have as pets? Please do your research on their care. And we ask that the birds themselves not be used as pet food, if you would like to have birds as pet food we can definitely order you some frozen ones from our supplier.
We have several eggs in the incubator so feel free to text with any questions. 218-686-4196

Northern Tropics will be open Easter Sunday. Effective immediately, all future Sundays will have open hours from 2-6pm (instead of 3-7pm).

Our second batch of jumping spiders are now available. These were hatched here at Northern Tropics. Special thanks to Edith for helping us separate these to prepare them for new homes!
