Missing the Athens Area:
Update Thursday morning!!! She’s an asthmatic cat that needs meds and she’s still missing. PLEASE check your garages, basements, sheds, and any hiding places in your yards such as under cars, sheds, decks or any small spaces. I can’t check every yard and this gives us the best chance of finding her.

MISSING!!!! This is Maddie, the love of my life. She’s an indoor only cat but managed to rip a hole in a window screen and squeeze outside around 11pm on Tuesday (June 2) night. I saw her once about 20 minutes later, hiding under a bush two doors down from my house but she seemed frightened and bolted. It’s now almost 4AM and I haven’t seen her again. Please text/call Karen at 740-707-4042 if you see her. I live on Hudson Ave very close to Elmwood. She’s a medium sized (~10 lbs) all black cat without a collar. She will be skittish with strangers so please don’t try to approach her. It may make her run further. Please check under your cars, bushes, sheds and even in sheds and garages if you have opened them. Cats tend to hide relatively close to home. Thank you

The results are in and we have 2 winners, we will announce them once they have been contacted but here are the correct answers to who owns who. It was fun to see our clients take on which doctor's owned which pets.

What is unique about a cat's whiskers?

They are roughly the same width as their body, acting as a built-in measuring tape to see if they can fit into tight spaces.

A lot of times there is a misconception about using heartworm prevention during the fall and winter months. With the unpredictable weather Ohio is known for, mosquitoes can become active during warm spells and run the risk of infecting our pets with heartworm larvae, even in the winter!

Other common misconceptions are that pets who are strictly indoors are safe but mosquitoes can survive indoors and in warm microclimates such as your garage. Missing doses can lead to inconsistent monthly prevention and cause gaps, leaving your pet vulnerable to infection.

Our doctors therefore strongly recommend heartworm prevention all year round. In order to get prevention, a current exam and heartworm test is required. If your pet has gone more than 6 months consecutively without prevention a test will be required before restarting. This is to be sure there is no active heartworm infection that may endanger your pet.

Did you know, just one vaccine isn't enough to fully protect your puppy or kitten from potential risk!
Just like a human baby, they require boosters until a certain age to be considered fully vaccinated! The window between each booster is time sensitive, therefore very important to maintain the appointments required to finish out the booster series on time. All too often, we restart vaccines due to missed appointments.
We generally start vaccines at 8 weeks of age and will continue every 3-4 weeks until they are 16 weeks old.
